They don’t, they show up but the axis are all messed up, you can’t configure them because you can’t see the movement along the curve.
I can’t get them calibrated, no reverse thrust and as I move the throtlle a bit from idle position, it goes 100% instantly (and they work just fine on windows joystick calibration).
I have the equivalent of hundreds of dollars in various flight controller that I’ve foolishly invested in but enjoyed nonetheless in FS 2020. But the new 2024 has been an excrement show, so far, in terms of getting any of my Thrustmaster controllers to work properly without going in and remapping some of the most essential controls.
I’m really p****d at Microsoft and the developers for all the day and week one headaches with this product. How could you spend millions in development and not forsee that the Flight Sim community would be yelling about something like this!? I doubt that X-Plane, Prepar3d or DCS would release a product without considering how issues with no proper controller profiles would p**s off users!
Yes it looks wonderful and probably operates ‘OK’ with XBox controllers when you finally get it to load and run – but FS 2024 still seems only half-baked at best for more serious simmers.
I have never seen such a confusing and over complicated interface for binding controls since … MSFS2020. They seem to have a team of people that have to justify their job by making such incredible feats a reality. Welcome to ‘triple A’ development practices.
So on Xbox I finally managed to get into a flight today. The Hotus One is not really being recognised in the menu system, it shows the icon for it and is selectable in controls but as others have said doesn’t show movement in the hardware control bit.
But what’s worse is when it is recognised in flight the stick is inverted. Forward makes me go up and back makes me go down. I can’t find anyway to reverse that. But also the throttle. Pulling the throttle backward increases speed. Pushing forward decreases. Which is complete opposite to fs2020 and other flight based games that work with the hotus one. Again no way that I can see to change that.
Now I’ve gone through the control setup and it seems pressing any button the stick the game immediately thinks I’m using a PC keyboard and instead of showing the Xbox flight stick buttons it shows the keyboard button so no way to customise controls (and yes the switch on the stick is set to Xbox).
I don’t even want to touch the campaign until I can get basic flight controls working how they did in fs2020. Surely would have been easy to implement an import from fs2020 for controls seeing how much other stuff they are importing.
I’m trying to use my gamepad control to move to the right or left inside cockpit. Just like I used to do in fs2020.
The problem is that when I move the stick to the left or right in control configuration, the fs2024 seems to don’t recognize the moviment to the right or to the left…(it shows both the icon with the left and right arrow) instead of only the left or right, according to the movement I’ve done.
Só gamepad joystick can’t be used to move camera inside cockpit.
Ok with hotus one on xbox finally figured out the inverted controls thanks to someone on YouTube which I’ll post below. Managed to get a few minutes of flight then tried the campaign mode and was stuck inside the craft but on the floor with the game insisting I was outside and should get in the airplane. Restarted and haven’t been able to get into either campaign or free flight since.
Yes, once you name a profile and bind controls for the device (making sure that you have the correct device selected on the left), you can then assign that profile to any other aircraft. But there is a bug with assigning from the main controller page (you can assign it but it does not always save).
But if you load a plane in a session, and then access the controls from the top bar menu and assign the profile there, it will save correctly for that plane.
Warthog Hotas user here. Abysmal control setting interface: I managed to set them in closed alpha but now any control I try to set for 330 or 320 neo does not work. It’s too complicated, too many useless options that can be relevant to a few (like specific aircraft controls) that hinder normal users setting their controls for all aircraft. Whoever thought this is a good way to map controls need to find a new job, away from user interface… I will just stop trying since I wasted 2 hours on this to no avail.
Well I have one somewhat good news story. My old CH products (yoke and rudder pedals) were instantly recognized and I was able to map the controls. Lost the bindings when I switched planes so when I remapped them, I made sure to click the button that said something about applying to all planes. Once I got into VR mode, one binding did not work and that was setting your yoke forward and backward to slew you forward and backward. Had to peek out of my goggles to find the “W” key on my keyboard to slew forward.
