Hello,
As soon as I try to start the FS, the MS Store window appears immediately and shows the “Gaming Services” screen. The FS closes.
On the MS Store “Library” page, I can find a download icon under the MSFS entry which, when clicked, suggests freeing up 123 GB of space. Although there is more than this space on all drives.
Unfortunately, it does not help to select any of the suggested drives, because the window closes without executing anything.
Fixing or resetting “Games Services” in the app settings also does nothing.
I also tried the tips on https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402187356690-Microsoft-Store-Cannot-install-or-update-Gaming-Services, unfortunately without any result.
I don’t know what else I could try now and would appreciate any tips.
Greetings Günter
Is there maybe an update for Gaming Services? If you go to the MS Store, then Library then click Get Updates, does it maybe download any update for Gaming services.
The whole story:
Although everything was running fine the day before, the MSFS2020 suddenly did not start anymore and only opened the FS-Store window with the “Gaming Services” (on which nothing could be changed or activated though).
After more than a week of countless, varied and unsuccessful efforts, I have now solved the problem. I spent hours restoring systems, copying backups around and researching the internet without finding any clear facts.
Although, as mentioned, I always got to the MS Store Gaming Services page when I tried to start FS, I could not access the MSFS and Gaming Services installation files in either the MS Store or the X-Box app.
I always got the message “An error occurred on our end”. I don’t remember after how many attempts but at some point I was able to uninstall FS in the X-Box app. However, a reinstall was denied because the app claimed that my hard drives were not set up for it!!!? The designated memory usage setting in the PC control panel couldn’t change anything either.
Only when I then formatted the hard disk (in my case A:) did the X-Box app accept the disk and I could start the reinstall.
I have 30 years of PC and FS experience but I have never encountered anything like this, unbelievable.
The obscure Microsoft operations seem to only work at their own discretion on other peoples PC’s. And they also crash it from one day to the next - really completely crazy.
I’ve been having this issue as well. What seems to have fixed it for me is uninstalling Trend Micro and relying instead on default Microsoft anti virus. Trend Micro was preventing any gaming store updates.
