MSFS 2020 and stutters

Same here! I’m kind of sad to read that many users spent so much money in lastest Nvidia cards, big time PC gamers but still having stutters on MFS2020 or/and on Xplane even with the Vulkan version, knowing that on my humble side I’m running MFS2020 (2K) ultra/High 2560*1440 (30htz), and Xplane (High Settings in general) 4K 3840-2160 (60Htz), screen Philipps 4K 52’, all in such a smooth way! … and there is no miracle around!

My PC Config (PC built only for Simming 5 years ago that I was sure that I won’t be able to run MFS2020 before the release date but very good surprise at the end!)

**Processor Intel (R) Core i7-6700 CPU @ 4.00GHz
**RAM 16,0 Go, Windows 10 Pro 64 bits, Nvidia 1080GTX, Screen LCD Philips 4K 127cm (50) inches), resolution 3840/2160 60htz, 8 Goflight modules (13 years old), ACE Yoke B737, CH Product Yoke, Thrustmaster T16000M joystick, 2 Saitek Throttles Quadrant and Flight Link rudders control module (8 years old). (Honeycomb Controls on their way)

Well, it goes smooth like butter and any stutter on Xplane or MFS2020.
My PC was born in 2016.

Amen :airplane:

Just adding a reply here, otherwise they are going to close this thread.
Albeit MSFS is a bit better now than when I initiated this thread,
(at least now it “holds” 30 FPS with my rig).
And although I think they are working on it, it seems not hard enough…

The performance benefits that it would introduce would be negligible. This is definitely not a solution.

Completely agree.

Have the same problem with micro stutters…10900k 3090 64gb mem etc.

Frustrating!

Don’t blame on me, just want to share MY experience. Same rig as you, 10900k 3090 64gb…, LAST Nvidia drivers 465.89 and that “trick” found somewhere to not let Windows optimization in full screen optimization. Placebo or not, no more stutters.

Going to give it another try.
Do you have HAGS and Game mode on?
G-sync or not?
What MHz is your cpu running, auto, ai or static ghz on all cores?

Thank you sir.

Yeah, Full screen optimization does trick apparently for rtx30 series. No more stutters and also gained around 15 fps.

Nope not for me, in the air, 60 frames with quick turns still micro stutters.

It’s making me mad!

I do feel you! The last update made me go nuts, really. Did you also check Override High DPI scaling (Application)? I also have that option checked.
But, before this full screen optimization trick, I actually found on youtube not here, I got like 15 fps in Heathrow and pretty much any major hub or big city and the game was very jerky. Now I’m back to 35-40. Still have some microstutters although they’re not that terrible. Actually right now, I’m downloading msfs again, after a fresh windows installation. Will do more testing.

Hi sir, yes I have the dpi setting also.
Still (not to bad) but yes microstutters.

Also the last core is always at 100%

Why??? Tried auto ghz settings, I now have 5,1 set to all cores still the same problem.

It’s driving me :peanuts::rofl:

Please let me know the outcome of your reinstall.

HAGS on, game mode on,I’m not on my pc right now, but no overclocking. I’m using Trackir. Forgot to mention, 1gb internet connection.

500mb internet for me. WiFi 6 adapter router and pc adapter.

Reinstalled everything. I can confirm No Full Screen Optimizations checked and High DPI Scaling enabled, fixed the jerkiness for me induced by the 1.14.6 patch. Also enabled HAGS, though I haven’t noticed any difference between HAGS off/on. At this moment I have it set to ON. Anyway, such a nice weekend I had, instead of flying I had to search for tweaks to fix the sim and reinstall everything from scratch. Go, go , Asobo…

Thank you for your clarification sir. Have a very nice weekend. Safe flights to you and happy Easter :hatching_chick:

Full Screen Optimizations does nothing for MSFS.

Full Screen Optimizations are a way for Windows to run older FSE only (Full Screen Exclusive) games in a special windowed mode, to prevent Alt-Tab and multi monitor issues.

As MSFS can’t (unfortunately) run in FSE mode this setting does nothing.

You are getting stutters because your Main cpu core (your last one in your case) is pegged at 100%. This will always cause stuttering as you have no leeway. Try and reduce some
CPU bound options and increase some GPU options.

For FS2020 Options, General:
<----------------------------------------------------------------->
“Display Mode” = Windowed
“Full Screen Resolution” = 2160X1440

Monitor set for 2K 2560x1440, FS Render = 80 (2048X1152), FPS = 28
Monitor set for 2K 2560x1440, FS Render = 100 (2048X1152), FPS = 30

Note: Monitor set = Nvidia Resolution & Desktop Scaling

Can you give me an example?
All is on ultra, no traffic, running 3440x1400 screen.. so what do I reduce?

I’m running a 10900k, 64gb 3600mhz mem and a asus 3090 oC. Asus aio 360 cooler.
Gsync monitor (Alianware curved 3440x1400)
Game mode on, HAGS on, optimized window and dpi settings active.

UPDATE:
I tried to lower the FS settings, even to low settings. But the last core still is at 100%. No matter how I put the settings. How is this possible? Even changing the screen rendering to low does not help.

Friend to change weather to clear skies, last core 100%.

I tried to disable the in data tab online function, still last core 100%.

Tried sr22 tried TbM tried Cessna without glas cockpit, still the same problem.

Tried to start at different locations, still same problem.

Tried to clean the community folder, no solution. Still last core at 100%

Tried to put windows power settings from high to balanced. Still last core at 100%.

Going to try to disable everything, hags, game mode, window and dpi settings. g sync off. Will let you know. For now… I’m lost
