Same here. Go to close it down and it just disappears and is left running in the back ground and when you start up it has the warning message to start in safe mode or normal. Only just started a few days back.
Are you all using FSRealistic? If not we can exclude it as the cause of this issue.
Same issue here since last update. Which was approximately 20mb. MS Store version.
I recommend that every one that is having this issues adds their vote to

Oh what a surprise. Blame the users pc.
In 2 years I have spent a lot in the Marketplace. That ended with this issue, no more.
And if you google it, this not the first time this problem has visited 2020.
As I say, no more spending, sales or not.
No im not so can rule that out ![]()
I don’t use fs realistic, never have.
I also un installed 2020, re installed it and left the Community folder empty. Problem still there.
1 update introduced, problem occurred immediately on my pc and seemingly a lot of others.
The cause is very apparent.
The solution : well, can they be bothered to fix it, or do they just not have the capability.
Sadly, I’ve been forced to begin the new learning curve for x-plane 12.
I worry that 2020 has the ‘B’ team on it, and the downhill slide for 2020 has begun.
I will not be manoeuvred onto 2024….which looks a lot worse, for many, from the extensive reading across the forum I have spent 5 months doing.
FS2020, MS Store, Premium Deluxe superduper version.
i9700K, GTX2060, 16GB, Windows 10, up to date. All perfectly adequate, but more RAM on order as I want to use FSHud.
It started for me immediately after the last mandatory update. Sim works flawlessly otherwise (touch wood), and always has done, except the period when we had all that Xbox malarky .
On Quit to Desktop the sim closes but remains in memory.
[Alt+Tab] does not bring it to the foreground.
Pointing to the Taskbar icon will “peek” and bring the sim fullscreen, with the Quit button pressed, ie greyed out because it was pressed. I cannot move the mouse to the sim as it just disappears. Right-clicking the icon, Close Window does not work.
Task Manager shows the sim’s RAM and power usage as very high.
On restart, I’m not asked if I want to start in Safe Mode, and all flying hours etc have been logged correctly.
Sorry Devs, but I hate filling in forms.
This is a little annoyance compared to starting the sim which takes for me one and half hour, started few months ago. Sorry to be half out of topic…

Same here it will not shut down from taskbar unless I force it
Exactly the same on mine , as you say no problems before this last update
Same. Wow, glad it’s not me. 24 shuts down fine, it’s just 2020. Are all of you on 2024 SU beta? Wonder if that has something to do with it.
Confirm same. After last mandatory update to 2020.
Same here will not shut down
Yep, +1 for FS2020 remaining in the bottom bar after exiting. MS Store version.
The same thing is happening here…with MSFS 2020 hanging.
Same here wont shut down after update. I did a reset and reinstalled FS and no help.
I can report the same issue on MS Store-bought version of the game. It has been happening for the last three days.
Moving this to Bug Reporting Hub and escalating this feedback. Thank you!
