Same for me…this is after a complete reinstall…
Just did another update today 4-21-2025 11:40 mst on FS2020 thought they may have fixed the last update problem. NOPE! Still wont shut down after clicking quit to desktop.

Have to go into task manager and end task to fully shutdown
When restarting not prompted with safe mode options though

For god sakes I was suspecting my graphics driver lol. Did DDU and reinstall back and forth three times and came across this. Hopefully this is logged and will be fixed soon.
10+ update since first reported and I still have to use the task manager to kill the app because it hangs when trying to quit, and no. I have no addons.
This has only happened to me twice, both times since the mandatory sim nav data update on 4/27/25. Both times, happened after I had a change to my marketplace content while logged in the sim. First time, I purchased and downloaded some marketplace content, then today, I had marketplace updates downloaded, then purchased and downloaded a couple of sceneries. I exited the sim, and attempted to restart the sim, when I ran into this issue again.
Later this evening, when I exited the sim (no change in marketplace content, I was able to exit without any issues. This seems to be only occurring with me if I add, remove, or update marketplace affine while I have the sim up and running.

I’ve had this problem before. What I did was click quit to desktop. Then on the yes or No screen wait 20 seconds before clicking Yes.
Msfs2020. Ms store version, Does not shutdown, Was OK before recent updates.
I just upgraded my system, fresh Windows 11 and MSFS 2020 (Store). Same issue here, won’t shut down properly. I rarely had that issue under Windows 10.
