Here too, same situation. I do not know if this happened after a specific fix / update.
It is happening every time although I am not using MSFS 2024 that much these days considering the Tobii issue and control assignments… So I can’t evaluate if it was a coincidence that it always happened during the few times I used the sim…

Hello,
I have been having this issue since day one. The only workaround for this is that after hitting your escape key you want to hit main menu, then hit main menu again, then escape(quit to desktop). If you hit “end flight” at any point to leave the game it will not shut down properly. End flight will only work to go back to the main menu to select a new flight.
I’ve had the same experience with the SU1 Beta. While it doesn’t happen every time for me, it happens quite frequently. Just as you did, I’ve used CTRL-ALT-DEL to open Task Manager, right-clicked the FlightSimulator2024 task and clicked End Task.
Ive started getting this problem recently with other titles too but not with MSFS2024. I’m playing through Steam. I dont know if that’s a factor or the new Windows update.

• I reinstalled MSFS 2024 SU1 Beta 2, with zero community addons, reboots, and cache clearing… and I still get the hang at exit.

For me, this started a couple of days ago. It will happen even if I start the sim and just exit out at the main screen without doing any flying or other activities.
Yes. Sometimes it does close, and sometimes it doesn’t. It actually closes from the screen, but not completely. It shows still active in Task Manager and must be closed completely there.

Nearly every 4 of 5 exit tries. Computer freezes, forces me to use control/alt/del
