It seems the North Europe and West USA servers are gone does anyone know why? There are other servers missing also.
Moderator Edit: Added “West USA” server to the title of this topic. Please see this post by the CM further down in this topic.

Simbrief also down
MSFS 2024 (PC, Store) - I just found only West USA, West Europe, and South-East Asia are showing. The others are not in the list.

It’s really odd isn’t it? I wonder why they did that. I tried searching but found nothing.
I have been experiencing absolutely abysmal performance today, on par with SU3 beta. West Europe server. The stutters and jitters have been exceptionally bad on the ground and multiplayer name tags dropping off every 2 seconds. Decided to switch to North Europe which seems to be a much more stable server and it has disappeared.
is it down for maintenance? Why is performance so poor today?
Hi folks,
I’ve been made aware that the North Europe and West US servers have now been retired. For players using automatic region selection, the change to different servers should already mean you have been migrated to a new server region. For those of you who selected your region manually, you should have received a notification advising you to change your region (if not when you next launch the title it will automatically select the next region).
I don’t have any further information at this time regarding the retirement of these servers.
The MSFS Community Team
Thanks for sharing. Are steps being taken to mitigate the performance impact of having many more players on the same server? It has been really bad on west Europe today for me. Would be interested to know if others have experienced the same.
Hi @GlobalJavan
I’ve been monitoring various platforms today and have not noticed any comments from players stating a reduction in performance since this change was implemented, apart from your own comments within this thread. We’ll continue to monitor this over the coming days.
Thanks
The MSFS Team
Certainly reassuring to see it’s not just me. The lag for me is very much on the ground at depart/arrive airports which would strongly correlate with the multiplayer traffic around. 100% has been performance regression today.
Performance aside, multiplayer name tags disappearing and reappearing has been a constant issue on the west Europe server as reported by many others on the forum since SU4 released. This issue is still present.
Wow sorry but this makes 0 sense. I have a fast growing community that does daily group flights. North Europe was the most stable server for flights. West Europe has people vanishing off and on. I hope they bring back the server because if not that’s not good for flights. Unless they fix the others.
yeah the two servers they pulled are the two most reliable.
I seem to having an issue too in MSFS 2024 but instead the West USA server is not popping up for me.
They got rid of the West USA servers. Not sure why it was not a smart move.
Please add the msfs-2020 or msfs-2024 tag to your post, depending on which sim your wishlist item is about.
We respectfully request the reinstatement of the North Europe servers for MSFS 2024. During a recent group flight on the West Europe servers, we encountered significant performance issues, including lag, rubber-banding, and synchronization delays, which negatively impacted the overall multiplayer experience.
These issues were experienced by multiple participants simultaneously, confirming that this is not an individual internet connectivity problem but rather a server-side performance concern.
We are a rapidly growing community with over 6,600+ members, and our group flights are becoming increasingly large in scale. As a result, greater server stability and capacity are essential, particularly for the North Europe and West USA servers, to support smooth and enjoyable large-scale multiplayer operations.
Thanks
Please fix this issue ![]()
Bizzarre that it was those two servers though. I know West US was very popular, even non US simmers used it.
I’m curious as to what the official word is. But the only way I can see this making sense is if the load capacity was expanded for East US and Europe. Or a security breach that couldn’t be resolved.
servers lagging for me …
Serves have been lagging for me for days. I wonder why we don’t have access to more AZURE servers. Here in Austin, TX I’m getting abysmal streaming of assets from both East and the West servers. Had to buy a VPN subscription just to get acceptable download speeds
My Personal Comment & Observation
I have been using the West USA Server. I changed to the East USA server this morning. On my 1 hour, 30 minute flight from Unity (11OG) to Mahogany Mtn. (1JY2) this afternoon, I saw no difference in performance or streaming of assets compared to my flight in the same area yesterday afternoon from Mackay Bar (ID28) to Unity (11OG). All settings - including my custom weather setting - were the same for the two flights, other than the change in Multiplayer Server.
AFAIK, only the two Multiplayer servers have been retired (as mentioned by Chewwy94 earlier in this topic), so that might impact the rendering of multiplayer aircraft, but should not have an impact on streaming of other data.
The only record I can find on these forums of my latency for the West USA server was back in March 2024 (so MSFS 2020, during the SU15 beta) where the latency was 78ms. Latency to the East USA server is currently 98 ms, so this change has caused a ~26% increase in latency to the Multiplayer Server(s) for me.
I did not fly with any Multiplayer aircraft today, so cannot say if this increase would have caused any issues in my flight.
However, note that in 2024, the latency to the East USA server was higher at 125 ms:
MSFS 2024 (PC, Store, located in South Carolina) - So today I find only East USA (32 ms), West Europe (113 ms), and South-East Asia (232 ms). Hopefully these servers will handle the quantity of users. I did not receive any notification to change my server region but found it set to Automatic (which I don’t use).
