Positive Comment 2: MSFS2024 installed.
It was a quick and among the most seamless installations…
I just took the time to customize my character and that added to the whole thing since my last post

I really like the lighting and atmosphere during daytime, and also the clouds looks a lot better to me. Oh and yeah, the asphalt texture on taxi and runways, and I guess the new way they make the materials on that looks great.
Wondering how you change aircraft during a free flight?
The rest is…on YOUR setup. Apparently not on everyone else’s. Thankyou Luis for measured and objective commentary.
I ve got the “first flight” achievement…for actually Not flying. Lol. The easiest achievement..i have ever got.In the meantime we have got the B-1B for Xbox on 2020. We can use 2020. And Asobo Take your time to fix 2024. Thank you.
Since day three quarterish (2:00 AM US Central time Wednesday morning), I’ve had no issues at all getting into the game.
Time from pressing play to being at the world menu is faster than maybe it ever was in 2020. (Minute & forty five seconds.)
The Photo Challenge mode has been fun to do alongside my buddy in sorta co-op mode.
Our grouped players have been able to see each other much more reliably than we ever did in 2020.
While I’m EXTREMELY disappointed that I can’t do the new activities (firefighting, medical rescue, etc.) outside of career mode (yet, at least. I can’t imagine they won’t include these in the activities tab at some point), I think the Career Mode itself is pretty great. (That said, I’d welcome an updated Neofly. )
While not a huge leap over 2020, the game looks fabulous. (99% of the time. I have had a couple sporadic texture-not-loading issues.)
Average framerate is slightly lower (at least without diving into tweaking graphic settings. I’m on a 4090 at 4K. The game said, “Here, you run everything at Ultra.” and I’ve just left it there.), but it feels smoother, with less stutters. That’s what matters to me.
The new controller setup is pretty garbage, just like 2020 was. BUT, I appreciate that the individual controllers are now listed on the left and can all (at least with the amount I have) be easily chosen, as opposed to 2020 where they were on the top and I had to scroll over to access some of them.
Speaking of the controller setup; The ability to have per-plane control mappings is something I will quite likely never use, but, as someone who really obsesses about setting up his HOTAS, it’s something that I really appreciate having as an option.
My favorite Marketplace-purchased third-party plane from 2020 (SimSkunkWorks Marchetti SF-260) has made it over mostly unscathed. No sound in external view and it spawns onto the runway with the canopy open. The former I don’t care much about and, to be fair, when I’ve flown a real one on a warm day, the canopy is usually open until about that point anyways.
Early morning/late afternoon lighting looks so nice now
THIS, THIS, THIS. I don’t see how nobody addresses this. It feels so much better, smoother and more natural so to speak, less twitchy. I had to adjust my settings a bit, but once done, oh boy, wow. And that’s on default aircraft. Imagine a highly tuned 3rd party aircraft. So pumped! The aircraft now feel like they have a proper weight and mass. Of course there are differences from vehicle to vehicle, but so far, I love what I see.
From an XBox user, the fact that we now have access to all of the base content via the Library is huge. Being able to see the default airports and eventually remove them if we have modded ones we like better is an awesome option.
Also agree on the lighting. The airports need to be toned down a bit but cities last year looked like ghost towns at night. I fly around NYC all the time and it finally feels like I’m actually flying around it now since everything is lit up.
Waiting to see what happens with the LOD in future SUs because they did say they found a way to improve it while not impacting performance too badly so hopefully that will be another thing to look forward to if it’s able to pan out in both 2020 and 2024.
Probably mentioned above but: Performance!
We have exponentially more detail packed into this sim, AND an overall performance improvement over FS20. Kudos to Asobo for achieving that.
Completely agreed. It has issues, but like buying an old house, I can see the potential.
I’m honestly really enjoying the sim, it loads very quick for me now ( UK based ). Few issues there but it’s nothing they won’t fix. The new lighting is fantastic, I love landing the smaller planes on grass etc to see the tyre marks and the grass moving with the wind from the engines. I have took a fps hit from 2020 however it runs more smooth than 2020 so it’s a win in itself. Overall despite the release drama it’s turning out to be a great sim and worth the upgrade. It can only
Continue to improve!
Love the atmospherics! Gound detail is amazing and the planes are more advanced than ever. It’s pretty stick to load in and I’m having a lot of fun with the simulator. There’s also so much to do that I’ll be kept busy for months!
I’m already thinking about deleting MSFS 2020!
Absolutely loving it. Can fly around in this MAX for a looong time
Yes…so do I
There are only 2 positive things; graphics are better for sure and flight handling is better. The rest needs months or years of fixing unfortunately.
LOL I meant MSFS 2020!
FS2CREW ready for MSFS 2024 no upgrade price…thats Positive.
Dude, i am stating my positives. No one is taking your toys away from you.
Sorry for the confusion. I mean that you don’t have to go back to the main dashboard to change your flight and it loads quicker than previously. You just go back to the world map where you can change everything there
