MSFS 2024 only positive comments!

We all have a lot to complain but there are also a lot of nice things so here’s this thread for those looking to see the glass half full.

My list:

  • Flight model seems to be enormously improved over 2020 planes fly very naturally, I can even move helicopters around (and I’m bad with Helis).
  • Cloudscapes are awesome.
  • Exterior and interior modeling of all the default airplanes is superlative.
  • Night lighting seems to be improved and twilight is really nice.
  • The Magni Orion M24 Gyro is perfect and flies great.
  • The C404 Titan is very nice, quite close to the C414 I would say.
  • The C400 is also very nice, and quite fast.
  • The Archer Midnight and the Joby S4 are very interesting and different aircraft to fly.
  • The Skycrane looks awesome and seems to be very good.
  • The HPG A225 is fantastic.
  • No Aeroplane Heaven aircraft in sight.
  • Rain is so real it scared my dog.
  • The Control binding UI was designed by the enemy but now we have a lot of commands to bind.
  • Hot Air Balloon works very nicely and is a joy to soar above the landscape.
  • The Skyship 600 seems to be very very nice and flying it is a totally different experience, I wish I knew how to moor it to the mast when returning. (help me!)
  • The Dreamlifter cockpit is fantastic.
  • The C17 is already very good and the devs will keep it improving, it already has a roadmap.
  • The Draco-X is a Beast.
  • We have a working A330!
  • The default Tablet/EFB is a great start, love it instead of the VFR map to see the airport layout.
  • Performance seems to be nice so far.

To be continued…

I am completely blown away - graphics look great, much better framerate than FS2020. Setup only took 20 min to download and 10 minutes to start, have been able to get back in easily since day one.

I am curious to try the “walk around” feature.

Hey - I like this. With so much negativity out there, its great to see there is a lot to be excited about.

From a Devs perspective:

  • its now easier than ever to offer multiple variations lf the aircraft, catering different use cases
  • Modularity of components in the cockpit and elsewhere improves performance
  • LODs are now enforced, lowering the toll on Xbox
  • We got many handy new avionics to use
  • Piracy protection has been improved
  • World Updates are finally streamed!
  • New texture compilation methods are more efficient
  • 1st party aircraft can now get updates more frequently instead of waiting for Sim Updates
  • Project compilation times are reduced
  • Far more variables to improve helicopters! Some degree of heli AP supported
  • Tablet has a ton of potential

Ps- thanks about the C17

  • Way Less Space, Only 30 GB (16 GB for Files, and 16 GB for Rolling Cache), 2020 is half Tera Currently In my C Drive.

  • Way More faster loading, average 4 Minutes only from the second to push play on steam, till getting to the last menu in the sim.

  • Impressive World Graphics, AI for ground vehicles.

  • Amazing Carrer Mode, its the first time iam engaged with the sim, 2020 had only in it some training missions only to be frank, as iam only a casual not a simmer.

  • Way better UI, everything in order and not repeated like in 2020 UI, with more nice colors like the dark blue.

  • Challenges league, activities, Career, Photographs, Free Flight, Could not ask for more.

  • My Library being Inside the marketplace is a better place.

  • Detailed Statistics for almost every mode.

  • Having your own character gives a personality.

Things To Improve:

  • Getting back Hangar Instead of Static mini pictures for aircraft, and making dedicated menu for accessing the aircraft, like in 2020. cant imagine the sim without “My Hangar”.

  • The sim usage is based on bandwidth, and bandwidth based on servers, it makes no sense to have lack of servers which directly affects providing services.

Ok who is this and what did you do with Luis!?
Just kidding friend! Thanks for the uplifting post and sharing some of the cool things I haven’t noticed yet.

My community folder gets bigger and bigger everyday when developers updated their products to new sim, but the start up time of the sim is dramatically improved. Regardless of how much contents in the folder, it brings me to main menu screen within just few 1-2 minutes.

I will try stay calm, since I would disagree with most if not all the points here but I like

  • walkaround, I missed that in 2020. Interactivity with engine covers and walking around is great
  • improved scenery (once loaded) is a step up with autumn and trees
  • improved keybinding, so there are keybinds specific per plane while general can remain for all planes

That would be it for now because the rest is… I am calm…

Clouds that dont make you want to rip your eyes out, flew by the nearest refinery today and noticed smoke coming out of the smoke stacks! No black screens yet, and career mode is great.

  • The magic of transforming flat photo maps into a vibrant 3D world
  • Better-looking rocky peaks and mountains
  • Improved HDR (at least on OLED TVs)
  • LIDO charts included
  • Integrated replay tool
  • 24 hours of historical weather
  • More believable atmospheric effects
  • Improved flight dynamics (as confirmed by real-world pilots)
  • Nicely implemented seasons

For some extra positive vibes, you can check out my first impressions HERE

I like that during the initial set up it looked at my hardware and said we suggest this settings level so i just went with that and didn’t change a thing it just ran and looked great right out of the box no tweaking required

Had a nice afternoon flight going low over Los Angeles stress testing my system.

The Ryzen 5800X3D is still holding up well! Smooth performance with acceptable frame rates at Ultra; even cranking TLOD up to 400 kept running, definitely with a hit on frame rates but no stutters or drops. I didn’t record any hard numbers, just going by eye for comfortable flight while using the TrackIR head tracker (and knowing that “dynamic settings” would decimate my graphics if it dropped under 30fps)

The CPU load was pretty well distributed, and I seemed to be CPU-limited in this scenario with about 75% load on the GPU.

I’m going to try re-enabling SMT (aka ‘hyperthreading’ by Intel’s name) which may actually improve frame rates now that things are less dependent on the main thread!

It’s a wonderful iteration of the franchise. Seeing lots of neat new things. Scenery looks better to me. Enjoying the little extras in the aircraft I’ve tried like being able to open the windows. Really impressed by the EFB that can be quickly accessed with the Tab key - super improvement over the old map. Was surprised to see passengers appear in the C172 when I loaded it up via the EFB. I’ve only being trying Free Flight. So much to explore! Thanks team.

I agree, the flight model is quite god and the performance is impressive as well with all of the air land and sea traffic the sim feels very much alive

Even the most exquisite and excellent performance cannot be watched

A few things I’ve been blown away by. Latest was just landing on every type surface I could find and looking at the texturing and detail. For example go check out wheat fields in the UK. How do they do this? Crazy detail. Also the other thing that caught my eye is flying at night in a 172 or especially the Cessa Corvalis. The landing lights not only highlight the ground but illuminates the sky around the aircraft casting a beam. Sure is a lot of eye candy.

The new atmospheric lighting is really nice.

What a texture and ground details. Now The look is same as in the Xplane. Wow.

the sim doesnt really work for me atm but of what i could see so far: the draw distance seems to be improved
i dont find myself flyin inside that “circle” of detail

Things I like so far:

  • better ground contact
  • Quicker load time
  • Lighting looks better
  • Career mode, variety
  • Smoke effect on smokestacks
  • EFB built in
  • Smoother frames for me, especially over larger cities
  • water and effect is much improved
  • I don’t have to quit out of a flight completely to start from a different airport of try a different aircraft during free flight

Positive comment here: I just installed 32 more Ram to end up with 64 and a 2TB SSD… And will go buy and install MSFS2024 tonight. :sunglasses:
