My first flight from A to B without any issues, perfect scenery and perfect aircraft ( fenix) The night-scenery is amazing and is loading very well on day 5. Hope for more improvement next days. But hours before, a lot of CTD. So it seems more stable.
Care you share your scenery location, setup, etc? Because I, like many others, experienced a very different game. Be interesting to know what the differences are.
It’s finally possible to stall a plane. I crashed with the A400M after flying too tight of a curve while being too slow. In FS2020 the plane would have just kept floating instead of actually falling out the sky.
Try the C152 Aerobat.
It tumbles nicely.
All I wanted is for the countryside to look the way is does from 3500ft.
In 2020, it does.
THE big dissapointment was the lousey ATC.
I had to use SDK to add AFIS to the fields I use in GA VFR.
Even so, there is protocol missing.
I have stalled and crashed MANY a plane in 2020.
-Amazing variety of sound FX when you use an external camera or walk around
-Even the raindrops falling on the plane from the outside sound real (well, I can only tell it for a Cessna 172, but there it sound as realistic as it can get)
-Fantastic generic trees, animals and buildings
-Seasons and weather are awesome
-Career mode is a great motivation and addon
-Slightly better loading time
That’s all. All other things… well… no.
I really like the 1st person walking mode, it gives you a totally different sense of scale of the world and the planes.
I wish they would expand this mode, make more things interactable, make of buildings stairs actually scalable and so on…
Got my controller setup now, found the Latinvfr A340 compatible, evening depature KIAH, Great performance, above 120 fps with my I9-14900k with RTX 4070 ti, Lot of potential here…
in 1080P ??
I’m positive I just had one of the best flights I’ve had in years. The night lighting in this sim is incredible. Note you should see the big dipper in one of these shots.
I had already been flying quite a bit when the map appeared to show much better water cutouts around the Chesapeake Bay and I love to see pitch black land with some lights and the water reflecting the last of the days light so I went to a little airport near Norfolk and flew northward – ended up at KJYO. (I think they’ve disabled all addons for the moment)
Here’s Tangier Island (I dont remember it in 2020)
I’m hoping the Chesapeake Bay Lighthouse shows up eventually
but heres the Big Dipper and a smattering of city lights.
Just completed the best flight I’ve ever had in ANY sim! Was having trouble finding a light twin prop since the Piston Duke doesn’t show up, the COWS DA-42 has no instrumentation – happened upon the Shrike Twin Comanche and decided to give it a go. I’m so glad I did!! Flew KAUN-KGOO-O08 in VR and it was absolutely stunning!! Everything in the Comanche worked flawlessly. Stutter-free and amazing graphics. I9-14900KF, 64GB, 8TB NVMe, nVidia RTX 4090, Pimax Crystal Light, Alpha, Bravo, Turtle Beach pedals. And to think over time it will only get better!!!
For me it’s
- Improved groundhandling, tires, overall landing realism
- I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO DO A PROPER HAMMERHEAD STALL. The plane kicked itself over barely needing rudder until the bottom of the flop over.
- Rudders have more authority
- CFD is noticeably improving everything
- Atmosphere is alive and kicking with better wind / cfd interactions
- Helicopters finally hover properly. In 2020 you’d experience sudden loss of lift the instant you reached 0kts, but its very fixed in 2024.
If you’re like me and love helicopters & flying aerobatics at the edge of the envelope, then 2024 is a game changer. Sure I’ve seen funny bugs, frustrating bugs, whatever. ( Ask me about the 300ft Tokyo Tree ) BUT thanks to the CFD on a dedicated core, I can:
- finally land with confidence! No more “touchdown swerve”
- pop a loop into a barrel roll while feeling the air kicking alive
- dance on the edge of disaster landing atop skyscrappers in 11-18kt winds.
Sparks of Glory.
I’m thoroughly enjoying the addition of lighter-than-air. I knew I was going to try the hot air balloon a time or two just because, but I never expected to enjoy it as much as I have.
Also, I absolutely love the new option to start from the ground with a custom start location. Not only does this go hand-in-hand with the new balloons, allowing you to start from any field, but also allows starting helicopters from any unlisted helipads or hospitals. Kudos to whoever at Asobo got this implemented.
- last day, no CTD
- scenery on ground and in air loading well
- career mode is working without CTD so far
- loading time of the sim is normal like msfs 2020
- awesome graphics, better than msfs 2020
some issues again when changing camera within the cockpit. game stop for seconds.
Had a good flight in the Fenix A320 last night , once I managed to get my thrustmaster TCA throtle qaudrant working with the detents.
Was in a stormy conditions in oregon KPDX , so enjoyed the sound of the rain on the windshield which was pretty cool , the clouds turbulence and the terrain (when i could see them) looked and felt great.
I know this is a positive thread and I really like the night lighting but one bug bear I have is with the airport lights , the orbs of the taxiway blue lights and the green centrelights are too big an overblown , they need toning down , they look a bit cartoonish.
Still… glad the Fenix works well , they had a big update to 2024 , its in experimental stage but it flys really well and no issues at present apart from setting the altimeter buts that more of a keybind issue for me
, this update from Fenix is so important for me as I fly airliners on VATSIM , not a General aviation person so hopefully the PMDG will be not far behind
Things I really like so far on Xbox S …
1.Fantastic modelling of new planes, the A400m stands out for me
2.Breathtaking scenery
3.Lighting, particularly on the clouds at dusk and dawn
4.The EFB
5.Being able to flightplan on the pc and transfer plans and charts to the sim
6.Having all the detailed charts available
7.Searching for animals is great fun!
8.The in sim “camera” is a great tool and works well with the world photographer
9.There’s so much stuff to explore and a virtual world to do it in!
10. Lots of new planes to try out
Thanks for posting such a positive post
I like the rocks, trees, water, radio towers and other new details like that. I didnt find wind turbines yet but hopefully they’re in it too
If I’m only allowed to be positive, the clouds and the lighting are a vast improvement over 2020. Everything else is either a downgrade or is riddled with bugs so I can’t be positive about them.
I guess I can be positive that career mode exists at all. I suppose they didn’t have to give us that and they did. How it functions… that’s another thing, but from a positive perspective, it does exist, and that is good.
-Career mode is awesome → could use some slight bug fixes but they don’t interfere much
-selection of planes is huge
-lighting looks great
-flight model is a huge improvement
-graphics + scenery
-all the new things to do; career mode, challenge league, world photographer, etc.
so excited to spend more time in the sim!
