Custom liveries and most other packages, which are stored in the community folder, won’t work. They show up in the marketplace as disabled, but don’t show up in the livery section (plane configuration).
The next strange thing is, that there are multiple entries of those packages in the content.xml file. It seems, that one entry will be added at each start of the MSFS 2024.
Issue detected:
The default community folder is encrypted (at least under Windows 11 Pro) and I’ve been unable to open files within those (sub)folders, i. e. the manifest.json. The MSFS 2024 itself obviously had the same problem and couldn’t access those encrypted files.
Workaround:
I changed the default location of the community folder from %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages to another drive/location.
Glad you got it solved. Editing the Usercfg.opt file is also a option indeed.
The protected folder happens on some systems, including mine. It’s why I made a topic/bug report about that issue. It’s a bit of a mystery to me why it does that, it was the same for msfs20.
If you delete the files/folders inside Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe you wont have the lock files anymore. You can backup your config (Usercfg.opt) and put it back after it remade those files and folders without the lock on restart of the sim.
