MSFS 2024 refuse to start up - This happens also for MSFS2020

Hi Again.
Now I wonder what is happen again.
I have flied in MSFS2020 for a while (with no online services bcs of the problem with the servers for MSFS2020 Grrrr - always got the message that my bandwith is to low). Well this is one problem but not the one I want to discuss here.

Well I finally started up my MSFS2024 again (not any beta) just the standard installaton.
After 32 seconds a black screen occurs after the initial splash that count up to 30 seconds before giving some info of load.
In the black screen was up around 3 seconds (no logo or anything else occurs) before I am returned do my XBOX-app. Krash Boom Bang.

OK So bcs it is rather easy and fast to reinstall MSFS2024 I decided to do that. I did the following steps…

1: Uninstall MSFS2024 in my Xbox-app
Rightclicked the MSFS2024 icon in the most recent list and selected
Uninstall.

2: Goes into the folder on my user (xxx\xxx\package\limitlessxxxx and check that it was away. (it was).

3: Restarted my computer.

4: Open the xbox-app and signed out and then sign in again.

5: Clicked on My Library and on MSFS2024 signed with “Owned”

6: Clicked on install when the MSFS 2024 appears in the top of the main window in Xbox-app.

7: It now installed and it was ready after maybe 5 minutes.

8: Clicked Play and EXACTLY the same thing happens. After 32-33 seconds the black screen appears where normallly the Asobo logo appears but after just 3 seconds the window close down and I am back in the X-box app.

I have tried to activate and deactivate VPN - No diff.

My online Bandwith is good - 229 mBit/s down and 309 mBit/s up Responstime 11 ms (Checked with a swedish service)

I don’t know what I am doing wrong.

Additionally even my MSFS2020 is broken and refuse to start up. I reinstall that also and it still refuse to start up.
No problem with bandwith during the install. It was downloaded with a speed of 100 - 150 mBit/s so it cannot for sure be my internet connection.

If I do not get any help here I will finally uninstall MSFS and all forget about it.
Any swedes here that are instrested in buying my Yokes - Sticks and pedals? And logitech panels and instrument.

But instead the loading seems to crash and back to the Xbox-app
No messages or hints of what is happening.
No change in my setup on my PC
I have Good Internet I7 processor 32 gb memory and NVIDIA 4080 graphics card.

I have also as the title said - also problems with my MSFS2020.

I have reinstalled the application after it acts as below. Maybe I was responsible of this in the first time bcs I was running MSFS2020 offline and it works fine but bad scenery. After completion of a bushtour I would like to see if it have been better so I from a free active flight press ESC and turn on online and also the Bing Maps (no photographics) and press Apply and save. There it was stucked with a rotating wheel. I think I waited for 1 hr before closing down the simulator with the windows close. After that the application refuse to start up as visible below in the screen shoots. I have tested with and without VPN active. I have tested to after the CTD - Both start up in Safe and Normal mode. No change.
I have also reinstalled the MSFS2020 totally like I do with the MSFS2024 above. It took around 2 hrs to install in good speed - Between 100 - 200 Mbits/s But same behaviour occurs after the reinstallation

After starting up MSFS2020 this screen appears. I have tested to start up in safe mode and normal mode

This is the last screen that appear. The progress bar in bottom of the screen moves very very slow. And then

Back to where it all begins. No messages or error codes.

Any recommendations? Or is my career as a MSFS pilote over?
I have flying MSFS2020 the last 6 years. I have not been without problem but all previous problem were I able to solve.
But not this one.
No change is done on my side and I am 100% sure that I have enough power on my side.

I have this exact same issue with MSFS 2020… complete new reinstall, cleared my cloud save. CTD at the exact same spot when loading. Blue bar about half way across the bottom.

I see on another thread that @TenPatrol suggested uninstalling the latest NVidia app… will try that.

I’ve been having the same issue, where the game crashes at the “new activities” screen. there is no error message. it just crashes.

Oh - So I am not alone…
It seems that “BLWD4610” have exactly my problem in msfs2024
and “J1mb0G5751” and “Wolfeezz” having my problems in msfs2020.

And I have both problem

I can add to this case (bcs virus protection can affect) that I disable Norton 360 for a short while - disable autoprotect and smart firewall.

No change.

Please “J1mb0G5751” report back of how it works with NVIDIA action.

Finally got MSFS 2020 working… fix was to rollback to nvidia 566.36 driver.

Hi there - Can you explain how to do this rollback?
I am not so technical and are seldom dealing with drivers.

But I do not know if this appears to me I seems to have the driver number of
561.19

I went to NVidia drivers website Official GeForce Drivers | NVIDIA

Put in my details in the manual search table and downloaded the December driver.

Ran the installer and ticked the box for clean install at install wizard. The installer takes care of uninstalling old driver.

Then rebooted.

I had these issues this morning when I tried the new nVidia driver with the nVidia app out today. Rolling back the driver and uninstalling the nVidia app resolved it. Reinstalling the new driver WITHOUT the nVidia app and everything now works again.

If MSFS 2020 crashes to desktop on the loading screen, there’s a high chance that Nvidia app is causing the issue. I had the same problem -(CTD on laoding screen).
After uninstalling Nvidia app and restarting PC, I was able to play without any crashes.

But, to ensure that all NVIDIA driver files and application files are completely removed, you can uninstall them using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). I have described how to do this in another topic – click the link below for more details.

Thank you. This was the reason (f-g NVIDIA App) to all problems with both
MSFS2020 and MSFS2024. Both are up and running now.

Now For the moment I am in the Content Manager in MSFS2020 downloading all missing contents. It seems to work fine but will continue for hours.

DLSS is the way. TAA is a wrong approach

@TenPatrol Success this time loading in to MSFS 2024 as I made sure I didn’t load the nVidia app at all with the new driver. Thanks for the tip!

If the cause of CTD was NVIDIA app, as I and @J1mb0G5751 suggested, then as a solution, you should select the post where we indicated that the NVIDIA app might be the root of the CTD. This will help other users in the future who might encounter a similar issue.

The more we tweak drivers, DLSS, game files or Windows, the harder it becomes to pinpoint the cause of issues like CTD.
Take a moment to think and maybe something will come to mind. For example, could it be some tweaks? DLSS tweaks? Replacing game files?

well I had the same CTD yesterday. MSFS20 ran fine before. I did not change anything but suddenly CTD. Maybe because of some Windows updates that have been done.

Anyway I learned in the past that if you don’t change anything but MSFS2020 doesn’t work anymore, this is usually not on our end and there is no point of changing parameters in MSFS or reinstalling etc,…Just wait another day or two.

I did that, that means I did not touch anything on MSFS. And because there was a new NVidia driver I decided to install it (w/ DDU and w/o the Nvidia app like usual).

Wonder it is now. MSFS2020 is working again.
