Hi everyone,
I’m consistently encountering an issue during career mode and its First flight which breaks the Career completely and loops me back to HQ.
Brief description of the issue:
You select your first mission through HQ > Missions> First flight > Accepts mission> Fly > > and during the load of the airplane “Unexpected error occurs”
Developer mode cannot be enabled in settings to check some deeper things like pointing to a proper airplane (in my case mission wishes to use Viking Air Limited, a De Havillan DHC-2). And there’s nowhere to change it.
Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:
Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:
(see above)
Please state your Graphics Card Driver Manufacturer (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD) and Version
Nvidia 4070ti Studio driver 566.14
Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:
1.1.7.0
Note I’m aware of (Msfs 2024 error code "307-400-00401") but OP didn’t post how they resolved it and we are apparently multiple people with same issue.
Count me in. Lost all the progress I had made. This is ridiculous.
i have the same problem 2 days now
"an unexpected error occured and you can not continue this mission. You will be redirected to the last place you were.
error code : 307-400-00401

I’m following up with MSFS support in regular support case. I’ll update here once I know anything relevant.

Hi all, I have the same problem (Xbox Series X)
This is happening for me too except i am a little more advanced in the career. It happened when i started a ferry flight, reported my plane had crashed. I restarted the mission then got this error and i got dumped back to HQ and lost as whole lot of experience.
Took another flight, 70NM trip, and half way in i got the unexpected error and it dumped me back to HQ. Flights have been fine up till now, i am about level 7 and have two certs.
Hi guys, support suggested me something which worked for me.
Flush your DNS.
Within PC it’s as follows:
- Open an administrative command prompt window as an administrator
- Type
ipconfig /flushdns
and hit Enter
- You should see – Windows IP Configuration. Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache
- Exit CMD
- Your DNS cache should have been reset.
- Restart your computer
- Run MSFS 24 as normal. Error should be already gone.
You’ll have to find the way for xbox. I don’t know how that’s done.
I’m on Steam and this didn’t work for me. Anyone still having this issue?

This solution did not work and the game is unplayable as it gives this error on every single flight.
