When using fixed external cameras, the aircraft does not respond to inputs. In 2020, this previously was only the case in the free drone cam, fixed cameras always responded so you could control the aircraft while, for example, in landing gear or wing view.

Fly any aircraft
Select an external fixed view
Attempt to control the airplane, bank, or maneuver it in general
In drone view you can toggle control on/off with the command Toggle Plane Controls. In MSFS 2020 this was mapped to the “C” key. In MSFS 2024 it’s not mapped to anything by default - not sure why they changed this. I only tested this in Drone camera - but I assume it might also work in other external views.
Yep I know about that key, and it works in Drone mode only - In External Fixed view nothing seems to work: you can’t control the plane.
It should be the way it was in 2020, since the only reason it’s blocked by default in Drone mode is to control the camera instead. But in external fixed view, you can’t control the camera anyways!
When in fixed external view the plane cannot be controlled. Unlike in drone view, where pressing the “toggle plane control” button causes me to be able to control the plane, it has no effect when in the fixed external view.

If I recall correctly, “C” was only needed for controlling the plane when you had the drone camera, the fixed showcase camera always would let you control the plane (because why would you NOT want to be able to control the plane?).
At my end it works fine using the “C” key for controlling the aircraft in drone mode, also in MSFS 2024. The drawback is while commanding the a/c it is not possible to move the viewpoint until you have pushed the “c” key again.
And it is possible to assign any other key or key-combination to this command.
I have not tried so far, if this is also possible for any other outside camera, because as a pilot I prefer flying from inside the cockpit.
