MSFS_C152 Community (V1.0.0!) - Updated: 09/10/2021

Correct - a real C152 engine does indeed rotate clockwise as viewed by the pilot.

I do not have MSFS installed so am unable to test, but recent videos of this mod indicate the propeller now rotates counter-clockwise as viewed by the pilot.

A modelling limitation, perhaps?

I feel the same, too much bank to the left. I dont know if thats true IRL, but compared with other aircraft its seem too much.

Sorry if it has been covered before, but I also felt the pull to the left was a bit too much (before v1.0 actually, at least from 0.99), but when I put 170 lb in the passenger seat to balance the load, it does straighten it out in the main. Have you guys tried this?

I’ve left it trimmed for altitude and in the stable left bank for hours, just drifting in circles with the wind. It was fun!
Also if one really wants to it to fly level hands-off, just engage the autopilot in ROL (wing leveler) mode.

This is actually called Torque Effect, P-factor is due to assymmetric loading of the propeller. This is also explained in the video you provided a link to btw.

By default the copilot weight is 170lb.

If you leave the yoke, after 20 sec you get 10 degree bank.

Well that all depends on what other aircraft. To the default planes? Maybe a bit more. Default planes aren’t known for the accuracy though are they? Just flight pipers? About the same I think if not less. To the milviz Corsair? Not even close.

JP flies IRL and also has a couple of pilots that have helped tweak the flight model over time to try to make it as accurate as they can.

Every C152 I have flown has had an inherent tendency to bank (usually left, due to the aforementioned factors, among others) thus requiring opposite aileron input to maintain straight and level flight.

It becomes automatic. However one machine in particular did require noticeably more aileron than others which could become tiring over long legs. It happened to have a particularly good engine (output wise) but whether this was the primary cause of it’s self-induced roll is anyone’s guess.

The difference is that simmers with joysticks that use springs to centre, so it’s an effort against the spring to maintain level flight compared to a more natural stance with an aircraft yoke where there’s no such centering force at the control input, so the pilot biases the input naturally to keep level.

I really wouldn’t worry about the blocky flickering lights. It’s an issue in the base game.

Edit:…and I’ll add, somewhere I read it relates to resolution scaling or TAA but I’ve had a few sherberts.

Many aircraft controls do indeed have some aerodynamic tendency to return to ‘centre’.

Regardless, continuous aileron input against an aircraft’s natural tendency to roll requires constant force which is quite analogous to having to hold joystick deflection against a spring.

As you might be well aware, Cessna’s often have a handy armrest upon which one can mount their arm in such a way as to hold the yoke against the roll and expend much less effort. I find this much more awkward with a joystick.

Yeah I flew Cessnas and other types and there’s certainly centering forces at play in some aspects, which is partly why sim controls have springs to in the absence of real aerodynamic forces playing on the control surfaces, but for roll control it’s generally imperceptible compared to holding a sprung joystick to fly straight. On the other hand, usually you have to make many adjustments due to burbles in the air to keep going where you want to go.

I love the plane. The modded KAP140 is also great. There’s one thing that’s puzzling me. After a long flight the DME displays LOW BATTERY although the ammeter shows that is charging. Red light is off. When this message appears my electrical equipment switches off as soon as the throttle goes idle and RPM drops. When I add throttle the electronics switch on again. So this means battery has been drained and it’s running on the alternator. But what is causing the drainage?

Did you forget switching back starter to BOTH?
This will drain batt instead.

Great to see this project moving along so well. Can I ask if you are aware of what VR cockpit focus is? and if so will you be implementing it? Many 3rd party developers are not aware and simply don’t implement it. All Asobo planes have this and it makes or breaks a plane for most of us VR pilots who need this, to be able to see and read our instruments correctly.

I downloaded your mod and loved it…right up until the moment I pressed the right mouse button to zoom in, in VR, and realised, “■■■■, not implemented. Nice looking autopilot but I cant get close enough to see or use it”

Thx, I will check. I use a honeycomb yoke and maybe my keybindings for the starter switch are not set to both magneto’s.

You must return the key to both position after astartin engine.

I tested it yesterday and what can I say, everything works like a charme. I have abaolutely no idea what was going wrong last Friday. I tested it with 50% and 100% fuel, with copilot and without. No extrely banking to the left. And I didnt use any trimming!

lol maybe you’re copilot had a few too many last Friday and kept touching the yoke!!!

Glad its working right though!! The sim does some odd stuff from time to time and can disappear just as oddly as it started. Sometimes just a sim restart can clear out some cached files…who knows.
