MSFS freezes when selecting airport

We can certainly backup your logbook, so it does not get lost !!!

Catch you another time…

Sorry for interrupting earlier, wasn’t my intent side track you two.

Just tossing out more thoughts for anyone reading.

Firewall: settings changed, corrupted etc… off temporarily and check online function.

Antivirus/malware: blocking ip or site
Try as above.

Windows UAC: off to test

And try Hardwire connection to rule out wifi issues.

No need to apologize I appreciate every tip I’ll check those too

No problem.. The last significant symptom, is the inability to write back the change in Option settings, after a flight is started, and one ESCAPES to the options menu. - and the PC Hung (see his screenshot).

At this point, I would go back and do some (easy to do) basic Windows maintenance… system file verify, HD errors, corrupted files etc etc, before getting back into trouble shooting MSFS itself.

The not being able to write back the Option changes may be a BIG Clue as to what is going wrong …

FUN stuff to diagnose – especially if it is not directly affecting you !!!

Have you ever tried the Google Maps mod at any point in the past? It could be that your hosts file is blocking connections to MS servers.

Good question GFX !

Some other ideas.

Run the trouble shooters see picture.

Two fairly easy and safe Windows maintenance/repair to run are sfc and dism.
Run them from WindowsPowershell(admin)
Right click on the start button to bring this up.

Read through this:
SFC/DISM
Its old, but still pertains to Win10/11

Easiest to just run, in this order:
sfc /scannow
then
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

You probably don’t need log files at this time. If something pops up as not repaired or not able to repair
best you contact MS Support, as this is going past what this forum is meant for.

Good luck and get flyin’
:upside_down_face:

That is EXACTLY what I was recommending as the next step !!! :+1:

The wifi link is also a concern, especially as he has lost his setting (log-book) already once in the past, but the above Windows maintenance/repair is a “no-brainer” to do first.

Obviously, if anyone else want to contribute to helping @DiscreteCash88 , jump in … I doubt that I have all the answers

@DiscreteCash88 - Just recalled this thread from a few weeks back. You might want to give this a go… many have reported success by following this procedure:

that was my issue a few weeks ago…same problem after deleted the google mod, but i could easy fix that…

I had the same problem. Every flight stopped at 70% and then nothing happens. After “killing” the google mod the sim works fine again, respectively I run the mod again and changed the server…

Thank you again so much for all the help you guys really took care of me. Like that post after a month I finally got back into the air, it was the Google maps mod. I downloaded it again and then did a official uninstall through the app and it fixed my problems. Apparently it corrupted my host files and after doing a official uninstall I was able to fly again. Now I can fly online with everything on without a problem!! Again I want to say thank you truly meant a lot.

Congrats on getting your issue resolved.

Google Map Mod - that’s one thing you did not mention you had recently been playing with when you started to have these issues

GOOD LESSON to know, for anyone else messing about with the Google Map Mod

Host file left pointing to Google Map when the Mod is not being run, or has been un-installed

Great job! So glad you could get back in the (virtual) air. Few things more frustrating than being grounded for reasons that remain mysterious.

Happy Landings!
