MSFS is not longer a fun and relaxing game

Why do all the defenders think we are asking for a perfect game? We are just asking for some common sense in patching.

My standard was pretty low. I was ok with the occasional crash, even with the bugs introduced in 1.8.3. I don’t expect perfection.

I just don’t expect the game to get worse with every new patch. That’s the regular standard. Make sure you’re not the one accepting every problem they throw at you as if that’s the norm.

I understand your frustration but can I offer you an alternative to the stock map? Alex Projects - Little Navmap

You won’t even remember there’s a built-in map in MSFS (and let’s be honest, that map is horrible anyway hehe) after you start using LNM. And if you have a Navigraph subscription, you will take your studies to the next level.

Regarding quitting the game, not only you are allowed to “quit the game and do something else” it’s highly recommended. I mean it, I keep taking breaks from the sim, it’s a healthy practice.

I was ok with the included map. I just use it to see how far along the flight plan I am and for planning my descent on Approach (because sometimes you can’t wait for ATCs instructions).

I’m not looking forward to installing mods and extra stuff right now.

I use no mods, just a few liveries installed. The game never crashed on my PC, never had choppy frame rates or other problems… until 1.9.3.

I’m fine with that idea. I just don’t like that two patches in a row made the game worse without fixing what looks like simple bugs. Patches are supposed to improve the game.

Let me put it this way: if a new patch introduces such bugs that the game crashed when opening a map and doesn’t fix blatantly big other bugs such as engines shutting mid-flight or the plane not starting at all, when do you hope to see other smaller issues fixed in this “work in progress”?

When do you think they’ll fix the AP going up and down like crazy at higher sim rates or fine tuning the models or adding distance to VOR DMEs in flight displays or the fuel flow and other such small issues? 2024? Name one game that launched like this and then became worse with successive patches, not better.

Of course there’s nothing to do but wait. But it’s most certainly not the usual path games or any other apps take in development.

Microsoft or Asobo’s employer here

I have no big problems so far.

I’ve also been quite lucky in that I haven’t really had many dramas with the game. Aside from the well known bugs. It has always performed well and most of the issues I’ve been reading about here have not affected me.

Having said that, looking at the screenshots from the alpha phase and comparing to what we have now, I’m starting to get quite disappointed. Even looking at the graphics from release day to now, I’m disappointed. Kinda wish I had have bought the box set so I could wipe the game and reinstall the original release. I would just have to remember to turn off the internet every time I load the game and it checks for updates!!

MIcrosoft are in charge here.

How long have they been doing the Windows OS? Yet, even now, they cannot produce a bug-free version, while forcing people to upgrade anyway. Over many years (since Windows 3.1) I seem to have been fighting MS to get my computer working reasonably, and there are still stupid things I have to use a workaround for.

And it looks like FS2020 is going the same path. Anyone who thinks they are going to wake up tomorrow with a fully functional sim are being rather optimistic - MS/Asobo seem keen to keep adding features, each with their own set of problems, while the total number of outstanding issues is not going down.

We all have to accept the fact that the patches the community looks forward to so eagerly will disappoint as many people as they satisfy. This is the world of Microsoft.

Same here. No issues apart from the well known bugs. But I am also not a mod freak; I have a32nx and a few more, that’s it. Update came out, mod didn’t work any more, flew a different plane, today a32nx 3.1 is out and life goes on. Do people remember that they have installed mods?

Unfortunately, I don’t think they do. I had the Garmin mod installed and then it took me a few minutes to work out why I had no displays in the King Air after the patch.

All airplane/system mods need to be removed from the community folder following a patch.

This sim is going the same way as Microsoft Flight down the drain it is not a flight sim it is a scenery sim nothing more

This sim is going the same way as Microsoft Flight down the drain it is not a flight sim it is a scenery sim nothing more

That’s only the second dumbest thing I’ve read all day. Congrats!

is there a tutorial how to install little nav because i installed it but alot of options when i right click are grey out

There is a point with the current focus on scenery simulation though, yet I see it on both sides, customers+devs.

Wish you not able to launch this sim after next patch, to have a great time as me have.

How do I install LNM? is it just a case of putting the folder in the community folder?

Who does this? Why? I’ve been playing games for 25 years and I’ve seen many buggy or incomplete ones released, but then patches fixed them, not made them worse!

What were you doing for those 25 years playing the same game? Its actually very common for patches to make stuff worse :stuck_out_tongue: especially patches that are based on backend fixes that the players wont really notice.

also consider the bugs that usually make it through development are the “Least bad as possible” bugs that have a lower priority to be fixed.

As such be happy its just these small things that are broken rather than the entire sim itself or something :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s a manual on Alex’ page! Just read it! Nothing goes into community folder.

I`m very dissapointed as well. After the update I discovered a fake scenery around my airbase EDVY. What a mess and dissapointment! It seems they want to make the simulation worse.
