Because implementation of the METAR system has spoiled the look of the weather, due to cloud distribution, heights, METAR bubbles, transitions etc.
It has also had the effect of making the meteoblue forecast also not match what is in the sim.
And then the weather doesn’t even match the METARs anyway.
So, there is now no way to reliable predict the weather for flight planning purposes.
So the METAR system has absolutely no benefits, it only makes the weather implementation worse.
It would be at least some kind of trade off for spoiling the realistic look of the weather, if it meant the weather at an airport actually matched the METAR, but it simply doesn’t. So it has achieved nothing and spoiled many things.
