They said that they have implemented it within the DX12 and have been trying it out in there own ‘internal build’
They said they were surprised at how well it works
Looking forward to hopefully testing it in a beta build
The glowing is around everything, like a translucent model around the model itself.
You can see it around the yoke for example. It’s subtle (not that obvious like when you’re next to some water) but very annoying and once you’ve seen it, you just can’t unsee it. Once again this is an even more obvious issue in VR as you’re literally inside the cockpit.
I don’t know why more people aren’t complaining about this. ![]()
But if this is related to the cra*** SSR implementation that causes tons and tons of graphical glitches, we can hope for everything to be fixed at once when they’ll release ray tracing… maybe one day.
That glow is annoying. I can lightly see it around yokes and other stuff. The most apparent to me is when flying the Bonanza and looking back. You can see a huge glow around the cargo netting at the very back of the plane.
Luckily, due to my cockpit setup, I don’t really see my virtual cockpit a whole lot, so it doesn’t bother me. But I know it’s there nonetheless.
At some point Asobo inadvertently implemented Kirlian Photography simulation.
But then what do they do with the hundred or so users complaining that live weather sucks and it should use metar data? This is why they went in that direction, because the community kept complaining that live weather wasn’t “live” enough.
How quickly we tend to forget… I get as passionate as the next on certain bugs in this game, but Asobo is ■■■■■■ if they do and ■■■■■■ if they don’t.
Live weather is working great for me over the last several weeks.
This is true - to a point. The biggest complaints from the community was about seeing weather based on a predictive model that’s 12-24 hours old instead of current or short-term model. The simplistic solution people started demanding was to add METAR data to airports, since that’s basically what 3rd party tools like REX and Unreal did.
However, natively adding METAR into the weather system actually amplifies the disparity between the real current conditions and the Live Weather predictive model because you’re moving from a live weather zone with old, inaccurate predicted data, to a zone controlled by current METAR data that can be wildly different from the predicted weather. Sometimes that transition can be smooth if the predictive model holds up, and other times it can cause a drastic shift if the predictive model and METAR are very different.
Really, METAR isn’t the problem here. It’s the fact that the live weather engine is showing us predicted weather that’s 12-24 hours old. A lot can change in the atmosphere in the span of 12-24 hours that will render yesterday’s forecast 100% inaccurate. To me, that’s what needs to be fixed more than anything.
Otherwise though, I have to agree that the weather system has been working well for me as a whole for the last several weeks. Cloud issues aside, temperatures, winds and overall conditions have been very realistic, even though they may not actually match real world conditions.
Honestly, I’m not bothered if the sim isn’t reporting 1:1 with METAR. Even IRL someone reporting broken 1000’ it’s not a hard line where 1000’ is cloud and 999’ is clear, there’s some mush room in the bases and tops. What I’ve had an issue with, and what I think started the whole “match the metar” mob march, is when I look out the window at 200’ 1/2VS +SN and the sim is depicting clear because that’s what meteoblue says it will be in 12 hours because that’s the run we’re on now.
This made me laugh. But it’s accurate. I’m all for using METAR as part of the weather engine. I just feel that the people demanding it had too simplistic of a view of things, and Asobo went with that, also not really understanding what the root cause of the problem actually is.
That’s the issue I have as well, and that’s what needs to be addressed. Using yesterday’s predicted forecast as today’s weather in the sim when trying to mix that with METAR data is a potential recipe for disaster as far as I’m concerned. If I check Meteoblue’s current conditions for an area I’m flying in, chances are quite high that their current weather condition won’t match what I see in the sim because current weather is not even close to what was predicted 24 hours ago.
I had that too and found that dropping ambient occlusion down a few settings helped.
I can’t believe they are currently working on updating the weather and yet the weather was hardly mentioned at all during the Q&A.
I wanted to hear about plans for this year. Seb’s presentation was great but at least half of Jorg’s presentation could have replaced with what are the plans (graphical and other) for the updated weather. or are the current graphics with yellow ashy cloud and every sunset the same and deep orange and reds under the overcast - maybe this is what will be for the next ten years?? never will sky colors be due to atmospherics but rather some hard coded color pattern. never to have everything from a cold clear simple sunset with just a spot of yellow then red all the way to the other extreme where the entire sky is lit up with color due to haze and the clouds vary due to size and density and postion and other clouds and lighting. maybe it is all too much to ask.
I am totally flabberghasted by the many people talking about underwhelming, disappointment, blablabla. Sometimes it seems better that MS/Asobo doesn’t communicate at all, because every communication seems to prove that it is never enough for some people.
Today this makes me a bit sad again.
This was a splendid presentation full of great promises for the year to come.
Why the need to always talk things down. Why not enjoy everything that we already have? The impatience, the negativity…
So I really hope that the volunteers of this otherwise great forum, from whom I can learn a lot about patience
, and all the devs and managers at MS/Asobo won’t get bogged down by this gloomy atmosphere that every now and then comes to the surface. You are all doing a great job and you may be very, very proud of yourself!
They should say, yes we will implement it if people want it, but test it properly first and don’t release it until it is a positive contribution and not a negative one as it is now.
Not for me. Weather doesn’t match the METAR most of the time.
You saying they are lying. Right? And what you speak is how it really is? That is comical lol
Sorry. Did anyone mention already how awesome it will be to have DLSS support?
Couldn’t disagree more, we were told the next update was about fixing bugs and not about new content. Instead most of it was spent discussing new aircraft that nobody cares about, and hardly anything about actually fixing the myriad of problems.
OK the bit by Seb was interesting really, but that kind of stuff can added when the current number of huge problems have been addressed.
Question on live weather totally skirted around which is a huge problem.
Watch the stream.
In your opinion
In your opinion
Of course, any of this is people’s opinions
Seriously…guess it flew over your head then…or maybe you didn’t listen to them when they said they have presently 50 beta testers…
Tho I guess you feel every tester had perfect results and no glitches…
Go read the forums..the problem exists AND testers have seen the stuttering.
Just to clarify…not once did I say they were lying…but as with many other iissues..they pick and choose to ignore what they feel to
Yet, you have declared again and again that you never wanted the sim to take METARs into account. So why is some inaccuracy such a huge a problem for you now?
It’s almost as if you want to find weather things to complain about to make your day. If you don’t care about METAR data, just don’t look it up! Problem solved! ![]()
I don’t deny that there have been evidence in the forum that blending sometimes impacts the realism of the weather, but I really don’t agree that the weather is now totally broken.
