MSFS: Live Dev Q/A January 26th Discussion

The more Q&A’s, the less impressed I am with Martial. Doesn’t seem to be prepared, or care for that matter. I’m sure this is just my perception but there is always something he is not prepared for when Jorge sends things his way…

They have loads of aircraft in the last stages of production, but not all will come to Xbox. He did give a figure but I can’t remember what he said

Same here.

I’ve seen him “pull back” when it’s his turn to respond like he wants Seb or Jorg take the question for him. I cringe when they toss a question to him. I always hope that Seb answers the topics I’m interested in.

Surprised how ‘quickly’ they managed to implement DLSS, seems like they surprised themselves with how good it works - looking forward to trying it out in the DX12 beta, once performance/vram issues have been addressed

So what are the beta testers for, doing???
Asobo want people to believe the 50 testers(their figure mentioned)…not one has experienced severe stutters and drops…
ive seen a couple of threads where one person said they were testing the latest update and they saw issues with fps loss and stuttering…maybe they’re not interested in listening the the test team.

One thing that caught my attention was the DC-6 discussion on Xbox. Jorg was explaining how everything was working on the dev kit and they released. Only to find out later that it was not working on the consumer console.

I would have assumed they would test it on the consumer unit before releasing. For such a company and product, I found it odd.

It potentially explains a number of issues we see on Xbox that are baffling how they escaped testing.

Seems kind of, um, obvious that the testing platform be identical to the retail platform.

But what do I know?

I thought it was really good overall. They addressed the PMDG thing which should move things along there. They addressed the XBox thing - could be 6 months or more there. Seb’s presentation was great - the best part of the whole show. Jorg’s future outlook was fine but I personally don’t care about many of these aircraft they bring out. Martial could have been replaced by a coatrack – sorry Martial.
They didn’t even address my issue or come close to it which had me miffed until I saw how many other topics got way more votes and were also similarly totally ignored.
I think the thing with Martial may be a language thing. He’s hard for me to understand and I think he may struggle for ‘the right English word/pronunciation’.

Or their sim runs just fine…

That, too!
Always a possibility.
But also different people have different standards of acceptability.

I don’t think the numbers really tell the story, though.
If the “vocal minority” in this forum were just basic whiners, I doubt that there’d be so much developer attention paid to the subjects of their complaints.
Asobo and company have certainly gone to great lengths to examine and correct some of the glitches and programming errors of the past, many of which were discovered by the “vocal minority”.

Well go on. How many of the one million ARE continuing users? Do you know? You say some ‘might’ download MSFS then uninstall. You need to provide some evidence for that type of claim. Evidence such as I produced. You might question that evidence. Fine. But do so with countering evidence. ‘Might’ just doesn’t cut it.

I’m not sure why you’re challenging me as if I stated fact.

I posed a question, first.

I said, might, as in speculation.

Surely, I’m allowed to post a speculative opinion or thought, no?

I’m just surprised to hear those kinds of numbers and see so many of the same faces here over and over. It stands to reason that, with Game Pass, yes, some folks will download, check it out, and uninstall it.

How many is anyone’s guess, including mine.

Furthermore, my post wasn’t directed at what you said.

This explains a lot, they need to change this as it’s apparent they cannot quality check products.

I have to cut him some slack. He is not as fluent in English as Seb, and certainly not as fluent as Jorg. It can be difficult to express oneself adequately when answering a complex question on the spur of the moment when speaking in (what is for him) a foreign language.

The perception that he would prefer to defer to Seb or Jorg when answering questions is probably correct.

Sebastian Wloch is his superior, it’s generally better for your career prospects if you defer to your boss!

Once update 8 is released, I would imagine the third party developers will be looking into how to implement the new prop simulation, and implement correct prop drag, and not use invisible spoilers, and the like.

I wonder how long it will take for new versions to be released to take advantage of these new features?

This also makes me think of a fairly recent conversation with some users who just wished that Asobo would stop releasing updates for the sim, as they keep breaking things.

On the contrary, Asobo seem to be putting things right, and the developers have to play catch-up. It was always going to be this way, given how the sim was released. or rather what was lacking.

What was actually said about DLSS? I only noticed a brief mention but nothing on implementation etc. Did I miss that?

They have it running on a prototype and aim to release in SU10 or so. Before the end of 2022, at least.
