MSFS vs P3D V5 - Visual Comparison

Huh!
I am confused.
We were just apologising to each other.

It’s nice to see that. :slightly_smiling_face: My reminder wasn’t about that post.
A couple of posts in this in this topic have been flagged as being off topic. So that was a general reminder to everyone to stay on topic.

Ah.
Gotcha.
Cheers. :grinning:

Well if we ALL have to stay on topic (excellent), I would then like to add my opinion. It’s about visuals, so let’s please stick to seeing visual proof for a visual comparison. @GridRisen The OP showed a couple of screenshots. I think the ones from FS2020 clearly show that the sim’s (default) graphics are better.
Would the OP like to provide more pics?. Also with the same lighting so we can compare the shadows quality.

Haha. And yes, a picture is most definitely worth a thousand words.
Sadly, I have no pics for you.
But I do know that I am very happy not to have to look at another of those, oh so disappointing, out of focus refueling stands again.
The ones in MSFS 2020 are all nice and shiny and crisp. Lovely.

Id say you need to turn you gamma up a bit in the P3d photos and it would look alot brighter. Im running both here, and unless Im running in the dirt, I really dont care what the ground looks like. Just the sky and the places where I land. I have noticed in 2020 alot of runways seem to be awful unflat, and Im pretty sure when you build a run way they build them flat for saftey reasons.

And when I do run in the dirty both still seem to have the same issues, roads that run along side of mountains at 45 degree angles, water that seems to want to climb higher up the banks in places then it should etc.

Yes and P3d has been out for many years and has undergone many iterations and MSFS has been out for just a few weeks.

I’m confused. The thread was opened by GridRisen. It was therefore he/she who wanted the comparison. As I see it, the onus is therefore on GrisRisen to provide the evidence (on behalf of the plaintiff and on behalf on the defence. We the jury can then give our verdict or ask the judge for further evidence.

It’s about a visual comparison between the two sims. Not about a specific visual defect in FS2020. Unless you want to be a biased witness for the plaintiff. Are you saying graphics of the default P3D have (unlike default XP) not visual defects. Please provide the visual evidence for comparison.

I believe the evidence is very clear in the above posted pics. What further evidence you require ? If you want I can post some more comparison screens to tomorrow but that would be adding fuel to the fire lol. I can even add some X-plane 11 vulkan pics

Sorry, you started the thread. IMO if you want the forum members (and other readers on this public forum) to do a visual comparison on the screen shots you provided, we can (to remain on-topic) only do a comparison on those. If you think the visuals of P3D are better, that’s your opinion, not mine. Fuel to the fire???. I repeat, you started the thread. I’m quite happy for you to provide further evidence (or ask for the thread to be closed). If you think XP default visuals are also better, change the thread title (to stay on-topic) and provide screen shots from XP if you want.
This could be an interesting and informative thread IMO.

Huh? While remaining on the OP opening discussion regarding visuals is key for this thread, that does not mean only regarding his attached photos. You’re still free to post your opinion with your own visual aides in helping your discussion. From where I’m standing, he’s winning that debate!

Let me throw another comparison to the mix

My P3D v5 settings are the best that I can get without having P3D to crash due to the vram memory (not even guarantee, possible that I start with 5gb vram and then when I am approaching London, P3D will RIP)

Yes, I too became a bit of a VRam watcher using P3d.
I added it to the list of reasons to change.

Be aware DX12 is coming to MSFS 2020 too. Which is, of course, a good thing.
So I would hold off on that 3080 purchase for now. There is a 20GB 3080 variant in the pipeline, and I, for one, have no intention of becoming a VRam twitcher again.

FSX had streaming scenery 10 years ago with TileProxy…

And it looks like ā– ā– ā– ā– .

Well it’s a decade old so it’s not going to be great, the point still stands, streaming scenery isn’t new.

But the capability to AI process it at the same time is. Otherwise it’s just…

Reading stuff like MSFS is based on FSX just makes me laugh. A modern Ferrari car is also based on 4 wheels plus an internal combustion engine invented in principle in 19 century but it looks and drives different.

the fact p3d should not be used as a home entertainment simulator as NONE of the licenses cover personal home use why would they invest millions into google earth lol dream on
