[MSFS2024] Airbus A400M Atlas

For Xbox pilots: Does the A400 suffer from microstutters and low FPS in many cases? Some friends on PC say that this aircraft is very heavy. Here I have microstutters in cruise and low FPS on the ground.

When starting a free flight in VR mouse does not work and I cannot click the yellow button to start. I have to switch to 2d, click the button and then go back to VR. This causes even more stutters.

Hope somebody can help me.

Finally got the time to try the A400M and I have issues right from the start. No matter where I place my plane, I get no external power anywhere. Batteries do not switch on either. And the throttle isn’t moving at all, despite working with other planes. I can’t even move it with the mouse. Other items are working, like the flaps or parking brake.

I am at a loss here. Any input is appreciated. I would really like to get the grizzly up and running.

Hi, when I grab the throttles with VR controllers they move individually. It’s much better if they all move together, as otherwise it’s impossible to take off or land safely. Some other default aircraft such as the twin otter have the correct behaviour. Please can you fix?

First time trying the A400M out. Superb aircraft by Ini, it’s very enjoyable. Engine noise level seems a bit quiet though. When you here an A400M IRL approaching you sure know about it, not so this A400M. Seems quite logical to get it up and running if you know other airbuses, but there are enough new things to keep me busy too. Definitely one of the best so far in FS2024. Only question is that really bright tail ā€˜Nav’ light and how to disable it as others have mentioned, it’s more like a reverse landing light.
EDIT: Oh and the really annoying double chocks procedure where the EFB chock toggle and walk around chock toggle produce different results!

I recommend removing the streamed package from your system and let it download again.

Do the integrated checklists work for anyone? I can hit NORM on the ECAM controls and they show, but I don’t know how to navigate them and the joystick in the aircraft won’t move at all like the manual suggests it should. I am using legacy mode in sim. Does anyone see this joystick working? Or know any other ways to navigate this menu?

EDIT: as far as I can tell, only the CHECK MARK button in the ECAM controls seems to work to progress through the menus, not the joystick itself. If I mouse over the joystick then only a rotational arrow appears (legacy mode) but the stick does nothing.

The relevant manual page

EDIT: Seems like it’s a known about bug according to their Discord. Joystick won’t work in legacy mode.

Is anybody else seeing the sim freeze when end or esc a flight in the inibuild aircraft?

I have had a few sim hangs very recently on exiting a flight and coincidentally (although I hadn’t thought about the link before you mentioned it) they were either in the Ini A400M or the Ini A321LR. I had plently of flights that didn’t freeze up before on smaller aircraft like all the helis or Twotter, so it may well be an Ini aircraft thing. I don’t think I’ve got back to the main menu with either of those two yet. Instead I have to just kill the sim from processes manager in windows.

Yes, a lot of people.
Hopefully fixed in the upcoming patch.

Set reverse axis that should work. The default controls on MSFS2024 are for a 2 engine general aviation set up. I’ve had to configure the aircraft as and when i get the time to do so

I really love the autothrotttle; I can’t believe I said that. It kicked in tonight to save my landing when I was a bit low and slow. I was hand flying, but with autothr enabled. Nice touch.

Recent arrival into NZQN.. I like the aircraft.
Only a couple bugs for me.

  1. The FMS freezes sometimes when you click the DirTo button.
  2. Freezes Sim when you end flight or ESC.

Issues I have found:

  1. Increasing the sim rate past 4x gives it a huge oscillation. This makes it impractical for long flights.
  2. No integration with the builtin EFB. Getting integration here would be a game changer for this (and other planes that depend on simbrief). I love the FS Flight Planner and find it much better than simbrief. When you use this aircraft, you can load in part of the flight plan but you still need to fix up the arrival/approach as this is alway stuffed up (another annoying issue). Simbrief is nat good at this as it is not clear what arrival STAR and transition are used as well as any transition to approach. This is much easier to see in the FS Flight Planner tool.
  3. When in this aircraft and you exit to the main menu I, almost always, get a crash of MSFS2024.
  4. I have found, a couple of times, that for ILS landings, it will line up with the pin for the airport and not on the actual runway.

Otherwise it is a cool aircraft.

I don’t know if this is by design, but if I had to guess I would say it’s wired up wrong. In VR, when you swap out to external and back, you hear the engine spooling down. I think this should have been volume spooling down, not the actual sound of spooling down engines.

This is an issue with all IniBuilds airliners/freighters, including the payware A300. The A310 can barely even handle 4x, porpoising quite badly at that rate but never actually losing control. In all fairness to IniBuilds, it’s not even a problem unique to their aircraft. PMDG, Leonardo, and JustFlight have all figured out how to make planes stable at 8x (and occasionally I can get PMDG to run at 16x), but, as far as I know, those three are the only developers to do so.

I feel like I’m missing something dumb, but has anyone been able to map throttle 3 & 4 on the Honeycomb Bravo? When I fly the 747, all four throttle mapping work fine, but it seems like anything I’ve tried for the A400 throttle 3 & 4 doesn’t do anything.

Actually, I just took the A400 up for a flight, and while I thought it could handle 4x before, it can’t today. (I probably just remembered wrong, since I’d only flown it once before.) Unlike other planes, it doesn’t porpoise, but instead can’t maintain roll control, rocking wildly from side to side and quickly departing controlled flight if I go above 2x. The fuel flow also doesn’t change with the sim rate. Other than that, I really enjoy this plane, I just can’t take it very far.

I’ve just flown it and again I have very laggy/twitchy controls.

After switching off the autopilot, manual control is very difficult. I can turn Velocity Yoke a few degrees before the aircraft reacts, from the outside it looks as if the ailerons respond correctly but the aircraft does not, It makes it very difficult for a smooth approach.

All my sensitivities are standard at the moment, but I’ve no issue like this with other aircraft so I don’t think changing them will make a difference.

No flight control issues here. As for the sim rate issue, I found that 4x will work if using heading mode, but nav mode is strictly limited to 2x. Also, on second thought, I was probably a little too kind to iniBuilds in my last post, since none of their planes burn fuel in sync with accelerated sim rate, and most other developers seem to get this right. Their official position is basically that they’re investigating, but can’t promise anything.
