On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being best), how do you rate your Overall Enjoyment of this aircraft?
This is clearly just a copy paste from 2020 with no checking.
Once again as with 2020, the aircraft is fit out for proline avionics. Yet the screens are vaugly supposed to be Garmin. With the added bonus of this version doesn’t even show the entire power.
The king air 90 has the correct proline 21 avionics, so there is no reason why that couldn’t have been implemented.
This means that if you want a more functional king air, you need to buy the deluxe addon.
Wait what?? I haven’t flown the 350i since 2021 or something. This is why I spent 15 minutes trying to figure out why I’m not getting any engine information? Just this?!
I really wish that they would modify the systems to that the avionics would be the Pro Line Fusion suite, which is what those display are supposed to be, and which is what the newers 350i (and now the 360) supposed to have
LOL I just spent 30 mins clicking on anything that clicks to try to find the engine info. Lets hope the 2020 Black Square gets ported across as the default 24 350 is just awful.
This port of the King Air is by far the visually worst of all MSFS 2020 ports to me as materials especially on the outside are completely off. The fuselage is basically mate, the windows look like made of Tupperware plastic with strange shadows and it lacks many MSFS 2024 features and an ambulance variant. It’s really a shame as the 350i would be a splendid aircraft for this career path too. The prop blade shadows are also really distracting.
I really hope to see this one at least fixed - I pretty much guess that auch aircraft are also the reason for the currently missing highest windshield effects setting (I think that could lead to a CTD with legacy materials).
Given the circumstances back then (i.e. existing bugs that affected all of MSFS2020, lack of good 3rd party turboprops etc), the 2020 version was at least passable.I had great fun exploring nearly half the planet with it while doing missions in OnAir (all of Europe, Iceland and Greenland, North, Central and South America).
I’ll always remember it with much fondness.
But the 2024 version seems to be one sorry version of an aircraft. I didn’t really expect any improvements, but then I didn’t also expect it to have such obvious bugs.
I guess there was no time left. Looking at most aircraft coming from the old sim cabins were added or at least reworked (also in case of the King Air chairs and other aspects seem to have more detail but this especially is visible on the CJ4 as the previous cabin model was kind of rough).
It might be some bug was encountered which made the old materials not work anymore and causing crashes so they quickly converted stuff last minute without time to fix it prior to release so they released it in current state for now.
I pretty much do expect fixes here - it likely won’t reach the level of rework they did on the Longitude but at least the one of the B747-8i if not even the C172s upgrade.
At least fixing the viewpoint and the materials shouldn’t be that hard and I’m pretty sure Working Title will iron out the avionic issues (not working engine information) as it’s meant to be based on their G3000 framework.
Edit:
btw. looking closely at the nose section the MSFS 2024 version is not just a port of the old model - it features a sensor now which I cannot find some information about:
Also there are some functionalities in place for the new sim just like with the Longitude - you can open the baggage doors on the engines end and you can remove some doors at the nose - however that part seems broken:
WTT said that they won’t do it as the King Air 350i in-game is supposed to come with the Collins Proline Fusion, not the G3X (and in fact the G3X was never offered on the real aircraft)
Now with some luck, they might either do the correct avionics, or if Asobo remodel the cockpit, switch to the same avionics as the C90, the Proline 21 (which was the avionics available on the early 350i)
Might be - at least, one way or the other, there was already much effort taken on the exterior even if it’s looking pretty dull currently. Certainty that was not done because someone was bored to shelf it
WT are awesome, so the Collins Proline Fusion could be on their plate as otherwise the PL-21 could have been integrated already (just like on the C90). Another option could have been the G1000 NXi.
I use Husk’s G1000 version with JayDees flight model in 2020. Not sure why they leave this particular aircraft so utterly derelict for both iterations of the sim now. It’s just a wet hot mess. Surprised Beechcraft signed off on this, they should have just killed it off and put it out of its misery. And it’s such a huge part of aviation in the real world. The perennial alternative to a business jet for so many companies.
Because it’s still work in progress - just look at my screenshots: the aircraft is clearly not yet finished. It might be that MS intended to bring the Collings Proline Fusion avionics suite to the aircraft on day one of MSFS 2020 but was not able to obtain the needed documentation or licenses in time. The cockpit shell basically resembles the one when these avionics are installed, however they use a G3000x simulation instead of the real device.
WT might currently work on the correct set as they said they will not implement the G3000 on the King Air back at the corresponding Aircraft and Avionics Update.
Why are you guys under the impression Textron (as the certificate and brand owner) would either have to sign off or care about that? While MS has some more in depth cooperation with some companies and brands that must not be with all of them.
I’m however sure that none “signs off” something for the entertainment market, otherwise mobile games featuring real world brandings and aircraft would not exist at all.
MSFS 2024 is not a certified King Air training software, so Textron will not care at all how the aircraft looks or works in detail - they only care that the “Beechcraft” and “King Air” branding used is licensed so they get some share for that and maybe that the branded model cannot be destroyed for entertainment. Likely that’s about it.
Considering the fake avionics (Garmin versus Proline 21 or Proline Fusion), and lack of engine instrumentation. This aircraft doesn’t deserve anything other than a score of 1.
If this is work in progress, then I would have very much liked for my payment to be in installments as well. Because I paid good money (possibly most expensive videogame ever) for a product that I was hoping would be nearly finished.
