I’ve had the odd freeze when selecting a transition on approach, it was a 2020 legacy bug and hard to repeat in 2024, but it’s still there sometimes.
Still lots of bugs in this plane, the 3rd engine disappearing and the FMC exec lights not working, CO pilot FMC not working either
Engine 3 disappearing. AP lost track of the flight plan on approach I had to land manually. The execute button on the FMC does not light up. Also legs page magenta highlighting keeps going on and off. No wiper animations. I hope this gets fixed b4 it’s release on career mode.
only the left most engines have a working visual reverser .
The 3d model is a complete joke and borderline insulting for the customers for a stock plane
Took the 747 out for a spin yesterday. I hope there are updates planned for the aircraft as it wasn’t production-ready on release and is still exhibiting alpha-test like behavior at this moment in time. A few issues I noticed:
- The default camera zoom levels are too zoomed out. It’s difficult to read any of the instruments.
- The brightness levels of the display screens (PFD, MFD and EICAS) are far too low. Almost so low as to be unreadable. Adjusting the brightness knobs has no effect. There seems to be a problem with the overall lighting in the flight deck. It hasn’t been properly tuned.
- The EXEC button on the CDU does not light up when there are pending changes.
- The BAROSET selector only allows for BARO minimums to be input. It cannot be changed to RA.
- The loss of the SimBrief integration may have been intentional but was regressive all the same. Would the developers consider adding it back in?
Overall the 2024 version of the aircraft is well behind the 2020 version in terms of completeness. Would be great for the developers (be it WT or Asobo) to work on the issues and bring it back to where it deserves to be, it was a great aircraft in 2020 but the 2024 version is too buggy for any serious usage. The port from 2020 was obviously rushed out the door
The LOD system isn’t necessarily a joke, although the implementation (or lack there of) certainly leaves one wanting…
There hasn’t been any art update on the Boeings because they needed to find an art team to do it. According to the latest dev stream they have started working on them now and we will hopefully see updates coming soon.
SU3 Beta doesn’t include most of the updates to the airplanes afaik either, those will come with the public release.
I have not seen any appreciable difference in the 747 between the Beta and the public release for SU3. With my Honeycomb Bravo, the altitude selection switch does not work, and the reverser switch for 1 affects engine 2, the one for 2 affects 3, and the one for 3 affects 4, even though it’s mapped out correctly in the Controls area (Both of those situations happened about midway through the Beta test. They worked fine in SU2 and still work in fs2020). And engine 3 still shows up in external views when it wants to.
There were minimal touches to the 747 in SU3. Interestingly it seems Inibuilds have been given this aircraft to fix, but alas they are prioritizing their airbuses instead. Hopefully the queen gets some attention for SU4 and long before it’s made redundant by PMDG. Bit of a farce to have the most iconic airliner in the sim borderline vaporware
Yeah, the Queen has been my main squeeze for more than 30 years now, and I hate to see the diminished role she is assigned. Since the “squeeky wheel gets the grease,” I’d like to build a continuous conversation about the missing aspects of the 747 (a thing or two at a time), and maybe if they see more interest, more resources can be brought to bear. One thing I notice is missing is we’re only given inhg for barometric pressure instead of both that and hPa, because there is a selector switch which needs to be repaired.
I don’t think it will be redundant. I’m sure there’s many players besides me who won’t give PMDG what they will almost certainly ask for it. It’s just going to target a different market.
Indeed, if people are happy with the default aircraft, they are not really the kind of customer we aim for. They do not care for fuel density and things like that (and rightly so). There is a solid place for less complex aircraft in this market.

PMDG
I may eventually hop on with PMDG. I have their 777F. And in the meantime, there is so much more to do to get the 747 to a place where more are happy with the default. These are not new features, but fixing glaring omissions or errors. Right now, in the 747 8F when I press the right brake pedal on my rudder pedals, both of the copilot’s pedals depress. Press the left and both of the pilot’s depress. Obviously, this is not how it should be. IRL, individual braking is an important part of being able to steer such a huge aircraft.
FS24 has the Operating Empty weight of the 747-8F as 467160 lbs (Approx 212345 KG). I have the OEW as 434600 (197131 KG) from the Boeing 747-8 Airplane Characteristics for Airport Planning Guide. What does anyone else have?
It’ll be identical for everyone - 434,600. Either they’re wrong, or they got specs from a plane with slightly different equipment. Boeing says it can vary but default seems to be 433,300 for the 8F.
thank you!
lolwut?
I’ll have to see this for myself! ![]()
@TJTurner
Yes - this has been mentioned many times before
(search is your friend!)
It transports itself into the middle of engine 4
Incidentally, I discovered she’ll take off at 1,028,000 lbs. ![]()
