Not really. My PMDG and Fenix add ons fly much better than an Asobo model.
The 787 is a fly-by-wire aircraft. We created the feel of the fly-by-wire in conjunction with type rated 787 pilots.
Per pilot reports, the feel is extremely light, with little sense of inertia and basically zero carryover when removing control inputs. Itās very direct. We even toned down the pitch rate targets for the fly-by-wire control law by 33% from the real aircraft to account for the fact that most sim users donāt have controls that have the travel of the real control column.
We had one pilot report to us that during training, he was very much hamfisting it, and his CFI scolded him, saying the 787 is a plane that you should be able to control with just your fingertips. By all pilot accounts it goes where you point it, immediately, and is a bit on the numb side. Itās a polarizing aircraft to fly IRL; some pilots like it and others really, really donāt.
Simmers expect that it have a heavy, conventional controlled large aircraft feel with all this inertia and weighty control carryover, but the real one very much does not. So, we chose to model it per FCOM/POH data and type rated pilot feedback. The final feel got good marks from those pilots, and we feel it is very representative of the real aircraft.
Not quite sure what or who you work for but if you do the 787 , then can you tell me when it will come in the marketplace as a 2024 native so we Xbox can buy it without purchasing the entire premium de luxe edition for just this plane ?
Iām on Xbox , msfs2024 standard edition and I want the 787 but I do want it same as the Asobo 737max8 with visible passengers.
So can you tell if or when this will happen ?
I doubt Matt can speak to that as itās almost certainly a Microsoft (not Working Title) decision - but if you want the 2024 787 right now you could theoretically purchase the 2020 version in the 2020 simulator Marketplace and the 2024 version will transfer to your 2024 My Library ![]()
Thatās not information I have, or could divulge. That would be a question for Microsoft.
Iām going to need an Alaskan Airlines livery and Delta livery for this aircraft
Working Title is not responsible for Marketplace decisions regarding separation of bundled products into individual SKUs. Please feel free to inquire with Microsoft directly by opening a Zendesk ticket using the Sim Support link at the top of every forum page.
Thanks for the continual improvement to the 787. I have not flown it in a while (11 months) because of the twitchiness compared to Fenix, PMDG and iFly add ons, that had a more realistic weight and inertia feel.
My comments regarding the Asobo 787 are also in relation to the $26 MM CAE full motion simulators that I fly at an airline pilot training centre. PMDG add-ons feel more like the real sumulator when you are hand flying it.
It would be awesome if some of your pilot contacts got you into the real sumulators for a test.
As mentioned, I have not flown the Asobo 787 in 11 months. Have the improvements been done in this time frame?
I look forward to revisiting the Asobo 787 as this was my most favorite Asobo.
Keep up the great work!!!
How can I acces that marketplace Zadma ? I only own 2024.
And then if it would be possible I can purchase the bravo airspace ? Because they say you need the PdL 787
Apologies, I assumed most 2024 users had previously owned 2020 - without access to 2020 (even a proper GamePass subscription would count) this workaround is not possible.
I do still have a code for ultimate one month. So if I activate that , then play 2020 with gamepass , buy the plane and it will show in my 2024 ?
Correct, and then you could also buy the Bravo Airspace models in 2024 - youāll just need to ensure you have the 2020 version of the 787-10 enabled in 2024 while using the Bravo Airspace models.
This is some really nice news , thank you for that idea Zadma , I was really considering buying the PdL for this plane but this is much cheaper !
Btw just to be sure , after ultimate expires and Iām not able to play 2020 anymore , the 787 will remain in my 2024 library ?
Owww one more question, the people that have PdL in 2024 , they have the āsameā 787 as if I would buy from 2020 marketplace ?
Yes to both of these questions ![]()
Thatās amazing! Then I donāt have to buy the whole PdL edition or have to wait until it finally comes in the 2024 marketplace ![]()
yes in SU4 released early December many improvements were done (check in their release notes)
poor WT team must compete with their 787 vs a MM CAE full flight sim ![]()
Thanks!!! Looking very forward to jumping back into the 787!! I was waiting for a PMDG or iFly version.
Asobo is doing a great job on MSFS 2024. I hope they are making some money!!!
The only high level developer doing a 787 is Flight Factor currently. (Over at x-plane)
They did a great job with their 777v2 so well worth the wait
Otherwise the Asobo 787 has good avionics. The fps rate is much better since SU4 and model is improved also a lot. For standard procedure itās fine. They are missing all CPDLC DLINk stuff and many testing or failure things though. But given itās a (prem deluxe) standard aircraft itās nice.
I donāt understand that last sentence with all the shortcuts instead of whole words. What do you mean ?
Weāre very familiar with Level D simulators! One of the founders of Working Title is a current and active ATP. Was it the 787 that you flew in the Level D simulators? The feel of the 787 is quite different from anything like a 737, 747, A320, etc.
The fly-by-wire work was completed for AAU2 in MSFS 2020 and persists in the MSFS 2024 version.
