[MSFS2024] Boeing C-17 Globemaster III

@LikedHare478430

I just bought the C17 and I’ve been playing with it for a couple hours but I have a problem. For some reason the tablet that lets you control the doors and payload won’t work for me. I’m playing on an Xbox series x and I was wondering if that could be the problem or if anyone else was having that.

Addressed above several times:

Firstly, kudos for creating such a great plane - it’s by far my favorite to fly!

I think I have noticed some strange behavior with the MACH SPD HOLD autopilot mode. It appears like the selected MACH number is being internally converted to IAS at the time of selection (right clicking the knob), and that is the actual target even though MACH is displayed.

For example, let’s say I climb to FL360. I select MACH 0.78 and everything behaves as expected (IAS of ~260). Then I descend to FL320 and IAS is still held at ~260 but I see something like M.670 in the bottom left (top-left AP box has MACH 0.78 the whole time)

Similarly, if I select M0.78 during climb, the plane will be overspeeding by the time it reaches cruise.

Is this intentional? I might be doing something incorrectly of course! I am on the SU2 beta but IIRC I see this on SU1 too FWIW.

I cant seem to get the autopilot to work.

You can use the heading change hot keys to change the autopilot heading, but the knob in the cockpit doesn’t change it.

The same for auto throttle, despite setting my desired speed on the panel, engaging the auto throttle just makes the engines go to idle.

I used Ctrl-E auto start.

Autopilot knobs (click+drag or mouse wheel) is used to select speed/altitude/heading etc.
After that, you must right click on the knob to push and acknowledge selection, and command the autopilot to acquire the selection.

Its all explained on the manual: Automatic Flight System | Miltech Simulations Documentation Hub

Oh. It works. I feel really dumb. Thanks. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hey guys having an issue starting engines on a power off scenario. Full procedures do not start engines when I start the sim with engines off but if I start the sim on the runway (and engines automatically on) I can turn off then turn on the engines with the same process. Any known fixes? Thanks!

Such a great aircraft. Happy to have one of this caliber!

However, I have noticed a few bugs where the aircraft does not follow the flight plan even when LNAV is selected (this very much could be user error).

Another issue I have, quite often actually is when I disconnect the A/P, the aircraft will roll hard to the right or left without being commanded to. At low level, it’s next to impossible to recover. This also happens on takeoff too. not all the time, but a lot of the time I’ve flown this, I get a hard, uncommanded roll to the right or left.

Looking at your video: check the crosswind in the display, it is jumping from left to right. Maybe that is the rootcause for the sudden bank?

The roll is a big caused by drag only being on one sides engines and thrust being higher out of engine 1 Miltech are aware of both this issues

Interesting. If engine 1 outputs more power, then why did I roll to the left? Engine 1 alone wouldn’t be enough to put you into an out of control roll.

I have no idea myself as to how or why but posted in the discord about it and had them respond with that plus a few other things Xbox related if you find the link to there discord it’s well worth imo

I don’t think so. Look at the flight control page on the right side of the video. As soon as its indicating a roll to the left, but full deflection. It only rolls as soon as I disconnect the autopilot. Then full deflection to the right and still rolling to the left.

I mean if you mean it’s a bug, very possible. But I have done a few crosswind landings now and no roll after disconnecting the autopilot. I am trying to fly this aircraft more because I love the challenge it offers. Different systems and what not lol

Ap disconnect roll is a bug been reported in their discord

So was the C-17 updated in SU2? The release notes say that it was updated to version 1.0.5, same as SU1 release notes, with the same exact changelog. What went wrong here?

Yea no difference to the aircraft.
I feel no difference when you load it with cargo.

SU2 didn’t seem to fix anything on Xbox. Still can’t even use the tablet to load cargo or open doors. How much longer are we going to have to wait for this to be fixed?

I wanna love this aircraft but the current state of the sim is making that very hard.

Thanks for this amazing airplane!

I may have found a bug. The windshield wipers are moving, but they aren’t wiping the raindrops off the window.

if this is the only problem… :upside_down_face:

No matter how small the problem is, it is good that the developer is aware of it and can look into it. And of course it is understandable that such a small problem is not treated with the highest priority.
