[MSFS2024] Cessna 172 Skyhawk

The point of having the controls is to use them to counteract forces, and induce forces for maneuvering. There are many forces on the plane at takeoff with the engine at full power. Add in wind and you’re going to be relatively active counteracting the forces acting on the plane (rudder to maintain direction, ailerons to counteract the differing lift on the wings due to cross-winds). Doesn’t the career flight instruction mention any of this?

Yes, light aircraft bounce a lot in the air, there’s not much weight to them. So if it’s bumpy out (like when there are clouds), you’ll get thrown about a good amount.

I uninstalled FS 2024 and cleaned the registry then rebooted and reinstalled it.
I then started a free flight and spawned on the ramp at KPDK. The C172 lights do not turn on and the starter does not turn over. I also noticed when I drag the time of day slider there is lag before the sunlight changes. This was instant in FS 2024. I’m still waiting to see if my refund gets approved.

It would be nice if the steam gauge 172 actually cranked over when you put the ignition switch in the start position…

I found that right mouse botton works with G1000 push botton.
Now It works well. It was my mistake.

Only in “Lock” interaction mode. It should be available as a left click in “Legacy” mode, changing to a fingerpointer when you hover the mouse over the button.

The view from the front seat needs to be a little higher so we can see a little more of the cowling.

Mine does this too. but in a more extreme action. When flying rudder deflects full to the left and needs to counter with a right rudder input to correct it. I am not sure if it is my rudder setting, Fire up my Fs2020 same plane same area, and not do this full left rudder deflection. So sure it is FS2024 not doing right.

The C172 G1000 has been Asobo’s most advanced aircraft as far as the flight model. This is where they said they had sophisticated instruments to gather precise forces in all phases of flight. I think most people won’t even notice the flight model improvements.

I flew many career missions so far in the 172 and I can’t find any complaints. It flies as good as any plane in the sim. It’s a great choice for all around GA flying.

As far as systems and controls, the first-party planes never were very detailed. But the avionics are quite impressive. You could see a standalone G1000 system of that quality as it’s own $100 app.

Can anyone tell me how to pan the map on the right screen on the 172?

I see the pan knob but moving it around does nothing to the map. I can zoom in and zoom out I just can’t move the map around.

Check your mappings.

Does anyone know why the 172 is so prone to long landings even with full braking applied? I’m certain that I can get a 172 to stop in much shorter distances.

I suspect it may have to do with brake locking (seeing skid marks on the runway when braking), but it seems that easing up on the brakes and trying to reapply it doesn’t appear to improve braking. It also doesn’t help that there’s no flight-deck feedback or tactile/audio feedback of the brakes skidding…

I’m not finding the landing distances very unrealistic but I agree on the possibility of locking the brakes and no feedback.

Are you also using max aerodynamic braking?

Was there an update serverside today on this C172 ?
It seems that electrical is working
I had notification to restart the sim so i did and it works but i could not discover in packages folder nor any other folder related to the sim.

I also bought the Aviator edition and only have the G1000 version. When I look at My Library I am missing many many planes which I would have thought after a week they would have finally been there after paying $200.00 for this package.

You have to go into the customise menu to pick the classic variant.

If they’re able to push updates quietly, they really need to let us know. If nothing else, I just want to know when stuff is fixed so I can use it.

There are several issues with the 172, even when landing at stall speed, it doesn’t want to stop on full brakes. Gusts and up/down drafts affect it like crazy in the sim. Often even when at full aileron right or left you cannot counter the gusts. The updrafts are so bad you often cannot descend quickly enough on approach.

There are so many issues in this sim and they couldn’t even get the 172 right. There are indie devs that have done the 172 right, I mean come on…

Also, it is this way for many small aircraft in this game. Cub is almost unflyable in the smallest of wind due to the gusts and updrafts affecting it more than it should.

I think a lot of people who think this game is fine have neither ever flown a real plane or watched a youtube video of someone flying one. You don’t even need to be a pilot to see things are wrong in this sim. Just watch real pilots in a video and you will immediately see the issues.

My bad i flew c172 G1000 glasscockpit i prefer c172 classic and indeed nothing has changed
there.

But still wanted to know what the notification was about (i forgot to screenshot it)

Thanks for your reply

I saw that too and it referenced my 2020 aircraft being available now, but I didn’t have time to restart and check. It’s also the second time I for the 2020 aircraft notice.

Thanks for the reply,

That may be it
