[MSFS2024] Cessna 185 Skywagon

You guys are spot on. No one is saying they don’t want things fixed. Just that a lot of us are tired of it being the end all, be all…

If you find a bug, post it. Hopefully it gets addressed. If it bothers you that much, or makes that aircraft unenjoyable for you, fly something that doesn’t.

The irony is not lost on me, that I am complaining about complaining. There has just been a lot more of it lately. I personally don’t make mistakes on purpose at my job, so I extend the same benefit of the doubt to others. I don’t feel that every developer deserves our ire. Some do, for sure… but some of these details that have been mole hills turned into mountains, were most likely simple mistakes.

Maybe I am trying to stay/be too positive, but there is already enough anger in the world.

For me, the C185 is a ton of fun to fly in the sim. There are a few little niggles, as with almost every sim aircraft, but its overall enjoyable to thrash around the back country.

Top 5 favorite plane to fly. Default CG is just a bit to far aft (sometimes tries to “backflip” when crawling into bush strips slow with a high AOA), but with a little adjustment it feels great.

Needs Autopilot

I really like that 185 to be honest. That’s my GA plane since it came out. Now wondering about the CT182T by Carenado but afraid it’ll be too much of the same. Price isn’t bad either at 20$ USD.

It has a full modern cockpit including an autopilot, so yea, it’s way better than the 185, IMO.

I spent a bit of time with the 185 in a lot of conditions as well as running the same time and place landings with the Maul M7-235. Both are fun but the Maul (in the sim) seems to represent the drag and cross wind twitchyness better than the 185. Both are flawed but for a free add on, the 185 is still an 8. ADF tuning is minor inconvenience and the autopilot is a non issue but I wouldn’t turn it down!

Sometimes less is more; it all depends on the mood. Some fly to challenge themselves, while others fly just for fun. I really enjoy learning the limits of each plane so I can almost feel what’s going on. The less attention paid to instruments, the better.

Just noticed this is available in the 2020 Marketplace, so that’s cool!

The external prop sounds seems like it’s beating against another prop. Sounds like a twin.

So far I like it, but the dynamics aren’t quite taildragger yet.
I like that we FINALLY have effects where the prop blows dust, although I’m not sure what this is on the snow:

Image Removed due to explicit suggestiveness.

Flap speed should be almost instant with manual flaps! And it’s streamed so we can’t edit it… hmpfh!

Can’t wait for some dirty liveries.

What were you trying to draw there in the snow, I think this might violate the code of conduct :upside_down_face:.

It’s in the eye of the beholder.

Oh, I just turned around. I’ll have to look at it now lol

edit: Serious? Wow. You’d need quite the imagination for that.

Here is the picture cropped, so you don’t get too excited. Amazing. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
Now about that ‘snow’ effect:

That ‘snow’ effect looks more like your aircraft is burning toxic materials.

Wasn’t serious about that of course.

But yeah, looks like someone is burning a stack of old tires.

I love the aircraft, but i keep having an issue with all the instruments and controls freezing
I’m not sure if it’s a user error or something with the plane, but this is the only aircraft i’ve had this issue with

Other than that, it’s a blast to fly!

I have noticed a lot of that too…

I tried the new Cessna 185F from Carenado. Am I right in assuming it has all the navigation electronics but no Autopilot implemented? If so, that is a shame. Very nice aircarft to fly.

Correct - I’m hopeful that a KAP140 unit can be added in the future, either officially or with a community mod.

I wonder if it’s part of the licensing agreement? If it’s supposed to be a replica of the real world aircraft, and the one it’s based on doesn’t have an autopilot fitted, maybe they aren’t allowed to add one.
