Yes same for me. You can adjust the brightness with the light switches underneath, but even on the lowest level it’s so bright that I need sunglasses at night.
There is no stand alone DME. It is integrated into the GNS530, below the NAV1 Frequencies.
GNS brightness control doesn’t seem to be implemented yet. In AUTO it should dim automatically based on ambient light levels. Manual mode, accessible via the AUX Page 3 > Display Backlight Page, whilst selectable, has no affect.
Seems it’s missing entirely.
A few other observations.
The stand alone Bendix/King COM radio is just a mirror of COM 1, not COM 3 as it should be. Also the display lighting doesn’t work at night.
The audio panel doesn’t work. Whilst buttons highlight when moving the cursor over them, selection isn’t possible.
Why is there 2 NAV Source Select Panels, especially as they are mirrors, and both control the NAV1 NAV/GPS source?
Cockpit lighting requires each slider (located forward of the throttle quadrant) to be cycled ON>OFF>ON to illuminate. Most likely due to the next issue.
The DAY/NIGHT switch doesn’t work correctly. Currently it controls the brightness of the landing gear indicator lights only. Whilst this is correct, it should also act as a master switch for all the lighting controlled via the sliders, so they can be left in an appropriate position.
The VoltAmmeter is broken (maybe the entire electrical system ). The battery pos shows a 15amp discharge with both Alternators on. After start it should show a significant positive charge as the batter is recharged, quickly reducing to a trickle charge of 1 to 2 amps only. A negative indication would indicate the battery is discharging and will eventually run flat. Secondly the VOLTS position only indicates 6-8V (whilst the low voltage annunciator which should illuminate below 25V remains off). The electrical system is a 28V system, and should indicate 28V with an alternator on, or 24V with just the battery supplying power.
(I haven’t even started on the behaviour of turbo charged engines . BlackSquare, please come to our rescue… )
Such a shame, as this was one of my most anticipated aircraft, and was modeled quite well (for a Carenado aircraft) in previous sims. My concern is, MSFS literally has 1000s of bugs that need fixing, and I don’t see how the devs can ever get around to addressing all the specific issues in each individual aircraft.
Thanks for writing such a detailed and knowledgeable report. Let’s hope that carenado will get around to fixing it. Yes, the sim has a 1000 bugs. But I am over my initial anger at the state of release, I can certainly see great potentially in the sim. But it needs a lot of work, and in a sense that’s how it’s supposed to be. Nothing is ever finished, technology can never stand still. Let’s hope there will be steady progress.
