My stars. I just loaded into this aircraft.

This is a masterpiece!

What an incredible piece of engineering this beast is.

I’m finally getting to check this out more in-depth, got all 12 engines started and I’m into a flight up the California coast.

Jörg, I know all sorts of people whined when you kept introducing flying boats, but I was all for them. We finally have a sim that is flying boat friendly and I’m loving these.

Don’t let the haters hate. You keep bringing what you want. They are optional purchases, no has to buy what they aren’t into. Let Oliver know that I’m a huge fan of his work!

This is really something.

I’ve been eyeing this one for a while, but 2020 wasn’t very flying boats friendly. I might have to get this one for 2024 eventually.

Yes, it is such a welcome change that allows us to start C&D anywhere on the water.

I’d held off on many of these flying boats due to how poorly they were handled in 2020. They were the main reason I got the Aviator Edition for 2024.

I’ve already noticed this being a small but massive QoL feature in 2024, especially with floats and boats  How’s the Do X handling in 2024? Like a boat with wings? :joy:

It’s hard for me to say since I didn’t have it in 2020. I found its water manners to be okay, although I didn’t get much out of the water rudder control wheel when trying to taxi. Was I doing it wrong? Under power, though, for takeoff or landing it feels really solid and controllable.

It is totally amazing how much of a ship-like design the Do X has, right?! The cockpit feels more like the wheelhouse of a ship.

A Boeing 314 with this kind of fidelity - chef‘s kiss…!

I love the design of it and the developer is great as well. I wonder when/if LLs and FFs are getting updated for 2024

Now that is a mystery for the ages.

December 4th 2025 Updates:

Dornier Do X

Version 0.2.0

  • (2024) Fixed missing thumbnail image when aircraft is selected.
  • Increased exterior lighting brightness.
  • Fixed cabin light switches A and B to be functional if master battery is off and engine generators are on.
  • With no aux engine to supply power to the aux generators, the aux generators have been modified to behave as engine generators 3 and 4, so with any of the 4 generator switches on (Eng 1, Eng 2, Aux 1, Aux 2) power will be supplied to the main bus while the engines are running.
