Ah well, it’s the developers loss. There is no way I would just buy this without trying it for free first. I’m not going to rent it either.

oh I know for third party releases, but all of the 2024 Local Legends/Famous Flyers so far have had the free trial, which is why I was curious. ini’s previous collab with Microsoft had a free trial.

I’ve tried that this afternoon at my local gas station.
The owner began to LOL……..
Happy :small_airplane:

It’s available for 2020 as well, that’s why I asked.

It’s a steal at 35% off. For the price it will be worth it.

The Fokker F27 Friendship is also available for MSFS 2020 ! Don’t know why the tag 2024 is used in the title.

Looks and sounds good at my first flight in MSFS 2020. But, after starting dark and cold on the tarmac, engine #2 somehow has only 600 RPM, while engine #1 has about 1600 RPB. During flight the RPM of engine 2 fluctuates from 600 to 1600 + RPM. When starting the flight on the runway, however, this issue seems to be solved: both engines running regular and at 1600 RPM.

Who’s the dev?

First impressions-

It’s discounted if you have the Premium deluxe FS2024, which makes it reasonably priced.

It looks very nice, texturing is great, it comes with a few (3 realistic eg. klm,DHL & 4 or 5 generic) liveries and the basic Ini EFB with simbrief and navigraph charts. Cabin door can open and is cabin is nicely represented. Passengers can be loaded & viewed seated.

Quite a lot of OHP panels/buttons/dials inop. eg. no NAV1 dial other than on GPS unit. So no analog course to set for say VOR navigation. There’s a NAV2 dial on the OHP, but again with no course dial just DME. There is also no switch between NAV1(GNS) / NAV2 (OHP) for navigation. I get the impression it’s mean to be used solely with the small GPS unit for GPS nav.:frowning: Which is too bad given it’s era, it would have been good to do some VOR-VOR nav. I find that the AP NAV switch won’t even engage if the GPS CDI is set to VLOC and a VOR frequency dialled in, but without a course to follow, why would it.

There are 2x ADF panels that seem to accept frequencies though (not tried those out yet to see if they work). Maybe we are just meant to follow ADF beacons lol.

Having looked at the freeware F27 (FS2020) comprehensive manual since we don’t have a manual for this one yet. I see a good few differences with NAV1/NAV2 and course dials. I haven’t flown the freeware one as it’s a FS2020 aircraft and I haven’t had FS2020 installed since FS2024 came out. I may try it out at some point in FS2024 if it works to compare.

I’m not really a GPS kind of person in these older aircraft so kind of frustrating not to be able to set a VOR nav course and follow it. If anyone finds out where you can set NAV1/NAV2 course to do VOR-VOR nav please let me know.

I am absolutely disappointed by this addon.
There are three major issues I have with this one:

  • no manual - an absolute fail for such an aircraft - now you have to try and guess how it is suppossed to be flown, the ingame checklist is a joke and not enough to learn this aircraft and its systems
  • no option to hide the GPS - a nice old analog cockpit gets destroyed by an retrofitted GPS unit for me
  • flight modell is off - landing speeds are much too close to stall, you need maybe 20-30 KIAS more then it should be, to not loose elevator authority or stall after retarding throttle and that there is nothing that prevents us from going unintenionally to early in ground fine pitch range exagarates this flight model issue

The rest is just avarage MSFS aircraft quality, which fits that price range.

For me personally at this point it was wasted money.

I can’t believe one of my favourite and most requested aircraft has been released as a local legend!

Do we have good Rolls Royce dart sounds? (Which for me is one of the biggest features of this aircraft).

How does it compare to the excellent freeware f27 by Bgaurant?

@BragRaindrop933 No VOR nav massively puts me off and would make flying this impossible/ unrealistic.

I own an original f27 POH if anyone wants to cross check any info.

I think I just encountered that!

It’s putting me off and I now own it. Seems kind of basic requirement. Not all of us want to use a bolted on GNS for GPS nav.

It looks great inside and out, but I am hugely disappointed with the fact the GPS can’t be hidden, and even more so that VOR navigation is impossible from the left seat without the use of that GPS.

To me, that’s just not some minor ā€˜nice to have’ for a serious simmer that you can make do without, but rather a fundamental part of the aircraft and the simulated experience of flying it that has been completely omitted from this release.

Dare I suggest that this was rushed out the door to meet a specific deadline? Just whack in a GPS and be done with it?

Hi, watching A330 driver’s YT now. He is using the VOR in the GNS530 to navigate. In the introduction he explained that this is the only VOR 1 available. So it’s a bit of a compromise, one can navigate VOR to VOR by tuning on the GPS unit (GNS or GTN selectable on the tablet). This seems familiar to me from some other aircraft models, but which ones don’t come to mind now.

Cheers!

Very awesome we got the f27, All we need now is a Boeing 767 300, CRJ 200, and metroliner

Hi, I have not had the pleasure of hearing/experiencing the real thing. Would you say that a low, slowly pulsing, droning sort of sound is in the ballpark? Watching the YT video there are no prop pitch controls, only ā€œthrust leversā€ so if the droning sound in the YT is out-of-phasing, one only has those levers to trim out the sound. Reminds me of what the F406 Caravan II sounded like at launch with respect to an out-of-phase sound (which may have been fixed since but I stopped flying it). And as I type this post, that droning is starting to wear on me, so I wish he would sync those bad boys.

P.S. for folks who want to navigate with VOR, the DME is tuned separately on the overhead panel.

That’s such a good description. It’s like a whine/ howl. Deeper and more rougher than modern aircraft. I think it’s most noticeable when switched to beta range.

Whooomp, Whooomp, Whooomp, Whooomp like, more whomp than whine LOL!
