I liked the ini YS11, so I’ll be buying the F27. I like having options, dont need a stinking Manuel as I’d toss out on TO. Ive got many manuals RW on my Ipad and diagrams from own research. The fun of being a Ret RW Pilot. That time about 30 years is spent more then actual flying. Love and miss the researching and engineering. Good thing for technology, keeps my mind sharp.
After watching a YT, thinking I may rent this one (a first for me) and see if I can live with it after binding hardware and cockpit views. It’s not much for liveries on my side of the pond, but it’s not so expensive either. If the engine drone is wearing after a day of play, may just leave it at that.
You could have rented it…
But how do you select the course for VOR1? There is no VOR course value to adjust on the GNS unit.
On the old-fashioned looking CDI to the upper right of the “six-pack” of steam gauges. There is a window with rotating drums for the numerals. At least that’s what I recall from watching the YT.
Bought it to test I can buy stuff from the marketplace for when the TriStar gets released. I did a short circuit from EGNH and back again, feels nice, very light on fps, lots to learn! Can’t really go wrong for 12 quid, just look at all those MSScenery bundles for more…
Like others have said, would be nice to turn off all the mod-cons and just go raw, so to speak. Sounds are quite nice, love that Beta/feather sound as you drop it back to idle. I’ll do some more test flights tomorrow, my eyes are on fire. ![]()
That worked for ILS, it didn’t for VOR but I’ll give it another go tomorrow. I wasn’t sure if it was maybe just an ILS indicator. The course numbers are tiny on that gauge too. I guess NAV2 isn’t usable or is there a NAV1/NAV2 switch I missed?
Just going from what I recall from A330 Driver’s YT, no switch. There are NAV 2 & 3 on the overhead panel, wondering if one of those drives the copilot’s CDI, but he did not use them. OTOH he used the ADF and not all new models have ADFs anymore. Go figure.
Thanks. The freeware one has panels for nav1 & nav2 both with course dials. This aircraft is screaming out for those. The JF F28 has them too. Not sure why they have to use a GNS for that purpose. They should have an option to remove the GNS completely, & not make its use mandatory. I was going around in circles tonight trying to get it to track a VOR. Ended up in heading mode then picked up an ILS which did energise that gauge you are referring to. G/s guidance worked too. I’ll delve in again tomorrow.
On msfs 2024 the F27 has multiple liveries, on 2020 only 1 white livery is included will this get fixed ? On 2020 there is no KLM livery included ![]()
Shame, could be licensing?
For a sim that came with a promise of 10 years of continuing support, I’m seeing more and more evidence that this promise is being abandoned. For those of us that have a perfectly stable 2020 setup and feel no need to buy another sim, this is an absolute slap in the face.
@Jummivana Jayne, can you tell us why there seems to be more and more anti-FS2020 discrimination happening?
That’s pretty strong language for a video game. What is this even in reference to, considering this aircraft was made for both the current sim and the old one?
You also cannot feather the propellers which is unfortunate
It appears the altitude setting isn’t working. I tried dialling it in a few times on my last flight, I’d hear the warning 500ft before reaching the set altitude, but the AP would ignore the setting and pass straight through, I had to press the altitude button for the plane to hold.
Interesting interpretation of “support” as support can mean anything from just security patches to regular delivery of all new features.
MSFS 2020 is somewhere in the middle as most Microsoft branded aircraft from the default MSFS 2024 lineup find their way to the old sim and indeed there are still new Sim Updates.
Good luck finding a move like that alone on any other game/sim (you can try to ask Austin Meyers to port the F-14 or the A330 from XP12 to XP11).
Also I didn’t specifically found a written promise of any support for 10 years within the license agreements - a spoken “we are planning with 10 years of support” on some random interview isn’t a promise, its just that: a rough plan if at all.
