Hello,
I’ve noticed that the community folder for MSFS 2024 is located at C:\..\AppData\Roaming\... (Steam version).
This creates storage and disk access issues for me. Is it possible to move it to the same drive as the installation (I’ve installed the game on another drive via Steam)?
Another question: MSFS downloads a lot of data; is that also stored on the C: drive? Is it possible to move it elsewhere? (I should mention that I couldn’t launch the game yesterday, as I’m part of the “97% club”).
Caution: when you select your folder. It didn’t work the first time for me because the location of the button for CANCEL was at the same click position than Open Folder. So, I select the folder but immediately cancel it (thus the Xxxxxx on my screen shot).
When I do this, it just keeps moving the Community folder back to the C: drive though. No matter how many times I try to point it back to my preferred drive (which for me is the G: drive). It looks like a lot of other people are also having this issue. I’m running out of space on my C: drive whereas I have TBs of space on my G: drive, which I purchased specifically for this sim.
Same here, have Steam version. Have tried everything, even linking to C from simulator. It seems to create multiple community folders, that do not contain any data. Please lmk if you have any suggestions.
Same here. Got it to work last night when I tested one addon plane I added to the community folder in drive D: for me, but today the addon is gone and as mentioned above now it appears to be creating these folders (Community + Official2020 + Official2024 folders) but when I drop an addon plane in the community folder it creates yet another community folder within the community folder and the aircraft doesn’t show appear or load. There are also two more of these folders (Official2020 + Official2024) outside of the community folder!?
I will keep tinkering with it
There is a problem - symbolic link or no symbolic link. The Community folder is randomly resetting back to the C Drive default location. I have been fooling around with this problem for two days with no resolution. Another Asobo screwup.
When I point and confirm the new folder location for the Community folder it defaults back to the original location next startup of FS2024 so it’s not reading any scenery in my new Community location.
If you want to have a Community folder located somewhere other than the original it must have this structure: e.g. E:\MS2024\Packages
Structure of Packages must be same as in original directory.
You can also set this in MyLibrary.
I copied all the airports from Community2020 and
the ones from thirdparty from Official\Onestore. They all work, except the ones that have fsarchive encoded in the scenery.
