[MSFS2024] Robinson R66

I flew the R66 an hour ago after updating to the new sim patch, and did not notice any difference in cyclic behavior.

Have your tried turning it off and on again, I mean, restarted the sim?

I like the chopper. Flies way better than the 125. The governor creaking is annoying, but the sound of the rotor whomping when you load it is nice. I noticed the GPS is bright AF at night and you can’t turn it down and also I can’t slave my Nav gauge to the GPS, making it pretty useless for navigation. Other than that great chopper, a bit too much ground effect maybe. I flew TH-67s and Apaches in RL. The 67 had a lot of resistance in ground effect but the Apache not so much. I would guess something little like the R66 may feel ground effect more though, but I don’t know, never flew it.

check you assistance settings. in 2020 they would often revert after an update

the ground effect felt pretty close to the real thing for me pre-patch. I’ll report back if I feel differently after I have flown the update.

I guess I need to do that again, strange nobody else dont have this slow cyclic. Its mostly to the left, but its really hard to control, and do over excessive correction and its impossible to get it back since the cyclic wont let you do a fast correction. Well, gonna do another flight in it but as it is now its pretty useless to fly if this isnt some setting

I’m getting use to my new Thrustmaster t.flight pedals and assist off. I have tinkering with the settings about 10 hours now:see_no_evil::smile: I can manage the h125 start and landing but not so precise yet.

Then I tried the excellent r66 :scream::see_no_evil::pensive::smile:
Oh my

.twitchy little beast
It required much more pedal input in all situations.
One annoying thing was the collective. The travel between 0-torque beep was 1/3 of the whole travel on my hotas throttle. I couldn’t understand how I should change the settings to get the thw power to match my travel of the hotas throttle.

I really love the r66 and was happy that you can use it in agriculture missions now. But the twitchy collective and the sensitive pedals made impossible to land on the spray truck. More training and maybe need to use the assistance as long as the ground effect bug isn’t fixed.

I would like to know why the collective is maxed out at a range of 30 % of my real device? Pulling any further will result in overtorque. I wonder why there is so much headroom. Can anybody give me a hint?

It’s weird it’s like the curve for the collective isn’t linear at all. As I lift it, the torque increases steadily and then at a certain point it gets way more sensitive.

It doesn’t start from cold and dark.

Battery on, fuel on, ignition on, press button at end of collective
a few more steps before attempting liftoff.

The ‘fuel on’ step is out of order a bit. In the real thing you push the fuel knob in when N1 reaches 12%. In this model, the starter won’t spool unless the knob is in.
Also make sure the rotor brake is off or it won’t start.

I feel this dust thing is getting worse, look at this from England

Yes, I followed all the steps in the checklist, but the helicopter does not start. Even CTRL+E does not work. The only way to fly is to start from a helipad with the engine already running.

That is odd. I have not had any trouble with starting it from C&D

I haven’t done a startup since the update though

I’ll check it later.

Yep. Something broke in the update.

You can no longer startup from cold & dark. The switches at the end of the collective are no longer clickable and the bindings for the commands don’t work either.

I can’t engage the governor either.

if you have ‘set starter 1’ bound it will spool up N1 to 12%, but there is no engine sound and it won’t go past 12% no matter what you do.

here is the bug report I just posted.

Go vote if you see the same issues.

Perfect! I just voted. Thanks.

I have to right click sometimes to get it to let me click on the covers and remove them.

Managed to remove it by standing durectly under the blade (thanks @warlleynovais!)

Now I can’t start the heli from cold and dark. I click on the starter on top of the collective with BAT on, ignition enabled etc and the MGT only rises a little. What joystick assignment are you guys using to push the starter?

see three posts up. there seems to be a new bug since the patch
