MSFS2024 stops completely after a few seconds after full loading! Pls help!

Update from my side. I opened a Zendesk ticket, submitted my “msinfo” data. I couldn’t get the “MSFSreport” as the game froze too soon.

I was told to do the following, in this order (if each didn’t work):

  1. Update my motherboard’s BIOS (fair point, but unlikely to solve) - done
  2. Reinstall MSFS 2024 after a clean uninstall - done
  3. Reinstall Windows - not a chance in hell

So, after doing 1+2 (and an Nvidia driver update to very latest), the situation is the same. It froze at 87% on first load, then on 2nd start I got to the menu before it froze, just like before.

However, one time I was fast enough to grab the “MSFSreport.txt” from the Advanced Options menu, so sent that back. On another load, I opened Free Flight and saw that the game thought I last few the C185F Skywagon. Well, I tried that when it first released, but I’ve since flown a few other aircraft after SU2 released. So it definitely looks like “old” data in my cloud save - and therefore likely that the cloud data is corrupt somehow.

I have reported back to Zendesk and asked if they wanted to do anything more with my case or my data before I do the cloud reset. Seems there’s no other option at this point. I am not going to reinstall Windows for this.

Meanwhile, I have saved my control profiles by making a copy of the “wgs” folder from my AppData path here:

..\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData

It contains randomly-named files which, when opened, are XML files for each controller and profile type. I might rename them to XML files and try to import them with the new SU2 control import feature. Might save me some rebinds once they are reset, IF they are in the same format.

Will wait for Zendesk before I do anything and report back later.

At this point, I have clocked up 60+ hours in 2024 but only 10 hours in the logbook. Pretty poor ratio!

Did this delete your career progress? Or any other settings?

Tried the uncheck the steam save files and got to set up, but once configured. No luck. $1500 of peripherals and cannot use them. Thanks MSFS. Fix the game!

I’m Store user.

İ just heard back from customer support and had the following message. İ followed all the steps except the last about the cloud save so i guess I’m left with only that (despite people saying they’ve tried it and it still didn’t resolve the issue).

DELETE YOUR CLOUD SAVE

As a last resort, you can delete your cloud save to try and resolve the issue you are seeing. Follow the steps listed in the article below.
How to delete a cloud save to fix some loading or crashing issues (Crashing on the identity screen, spawning inside buildings,…)

I’m not sure what the best way to report this kind of thing is but i believe the following posts can all be combined into a single post as the all appear to be addressing the same issue which began within the same time period:

Well, after giving up with all other potential solutions, I can confirm that clearing my cloud save has solved the issue instantaneously. No more crashing after loading. Ran the following in Command Prompt:

start shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -DeleteCloudSaves

2024 then loaded up and didn’t freeze at all. Got to experience the first time setup again. Settings are all reset.

At least it works now :upside_down_face:

To the woe of remapping control bindings…

Having saved the old “wgs” folder, with randomly named files which are all XML profiles, I tried re-importing one but it failed.

Comparing via Notepad++ a freshly-exported ‘default’ profile with the one I saved from the “wgs” folder, I noticed my “old” file (from the “wgs” folder) has a lot more sections vs the new file which I exported from my ‘fresh’ 2024. Wonder if they cleaned up the way control profiles are saved with one of the updates to make it more streamlined.

“New” XML profile on the left, “old” pre-reset XML profile on the right (most sections were collapsed to show only categories).

This was for my pedals. I don’t know why the old file has SO many categories saved as those controls would not have been mapped to my pedals. Could just be a difference between how the game normally stores profiles vs how it exports them, of course.

If the “old” files are really that much more cluttered, I may be better off remapping from scratch vs trying to reimport potential garbage. I just wonder if bad profiles could contribute to the freezing issue…

Having the same issue now in su3 beta. Anybody know how to save the controls configuration before hand so I don’t have to pull my hair out for a month?

Sounds very similar to my issue…
