Mugz TBM mod ground speed taxi > 20 on taxi idle?

It was a short lived mod as I discovered that with the plane at taxi idle that it quickly accelerates to more than 20 knots (or whatever the indicator is indicating) for a very fast taxi. Is anyone else experiencing that? Doesn’t happen with the stock TBM.

Mugz’s TBM mod is still working. It’s not dead

That’s the way the TBM (and many other turboprops) behaves in IRL as well.

Ahhh…

So it seems that MSFS needs additional brake options for non-brake-pedal users (most of us I’m sure) other than 100% brake. I have a Thrustmaster Airbus with a button mapped to brakes. It would seem that something like Brakes 100%, Brakes 75%, Brakes 50%, Brakes 25% as additional options would solve the issue between realism (which we all want including me) and the hardware’s ability to provide that real experience. I’d map 100% and 25% myself. Right now I’d have to be on/off/on/off/on/off/etc/etc with the brakes all the way down the taxi way rather than being able to ride the brakes at 25% or whatever.

I don’t suppose that’s the #1 upcoming fix or anything huh?

IRL you usually don’t apply brakes to control taxi speed.

You let the aircraft accelerate to 20-30kts and then you pull the throttle back below flight idle to reduce the speed to ~10kts…repeat as necessary.

@ImpulseCello286 to have better taxi speed control at idle, I modified the [TURBOPROP_ENGINE] of the engine.cfg file with the following:
tp_high_idle_throttle_pos = 1 (instead of 0)
This way, the TBM only accelerate when the throttle is not at idle.

The Thrustmaster Airbus has a little notch or whatever where below that notch is used for something like reverse thrust (which I couldn’t get to work properly after one of the updates). Maybe I could map that to pull back below taxi idle

I guess… if you want the aircraft to behave unrealistically, that would be one way…

That should be possible.

There are various ways to achieve reverse thrust.

Reverse thrust in the TBM still works for me on the X56 with no modifications

In my case, i do not have this with this mod. My TBM does not go faster then 5-10 kts while taxiing. I use the mod since the beginning. The default TBM is just a peace of …. if you know what i mean.

Steveo1Kinevo uses beta (reverse thrust) to control the taxi speed in this video. Great video and I suggest watching it all, but skip to 5:20 where he mentions using beta “to avoid riding the brakes” or something to that effect.

Oh nice! Thanks for posting the vid! Wish I was actually in there :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Can’t see what the fuss is about I just use a button my X52 throttle to toggle reverse thrust on and off when taxiing the TBM - works fine

Same for me on the X56

What fuss? The OP simply asked if the high speed at idle is realistic.

‘It was a short lived mod…’ seems like a bit of an overreaction to an easily fixed issue to me. Unnecessarily dramatic?

The non-hyped version is just that I removed the mod while I sought additional info here to know whether to keep it out while being fixed if a bug or to see how others are approaching this if not a bug. Much thanks to those that provided additional info and options. :+1:

Ah… a little discovery. When I do a cold start with this mod, even though my throttle is all the way back, it’s like 10% throttle which is why my plane had “extra” oomph. Short fix is I do a quick “rev” with my hardware throttle (1 second up/down) and that seems to reset to a true idle.

I found that when taking off directly from runway, I didn’t have that issue.

Anyway, enjoying the mod!
