Multiplayer: display other players actual aircraft 3D models and liveries around you

Nope, you can only see marketplace plane models that you also own and have installed.

But even then, the model matching gets it wrong sometimes

Oh…its a very bad new…

Really only marketplace models? Or aircraft too, which we buy outside the marketplace…?

Thanks!

I believe the same applies to other non marketplace aircraft. You both need to have them installed, and you need the model matching to work properly

A fix is touted for MSFS 2024, but we’ll see. Been waiting for a fix for ages.

In the meantime the M3 model matching utility available from flightsim.to offers a reasonable workaround that improves the sim shortfalls.

Asobo! PLEASE get your act together concerning multiplayer aircraft substitution!!!

It’s pretty whacked when you’re flying in a group of F/A-18s, and you see ONE F/A-18 and the rest are Beechcraft Barons, mixed with an A310 or two! This should never happen! Even if an aircraft in the group isn’t one in your inventory (i.e. F-35) it still should substitute for a similar aircraft!

I belong to a flight sim club and frequently we ONLY see navigation lights, or the sim substitutes an improper aircraft EVEN when we are all flying stock aircraft!

Up until the 5th, 6th or 7th update it was working without issue. Since then, it’s been a serious issue!

PLEASE get this fixed!

I just wanted to add one more thing. FSX, and P3D always substituted aircraft properly! This is not an insurmountable issue!

I FULLY understand if I don’t have a particular aircraft (or livery) in my inventory that I would not see that aircraft, but it should still be substituted with a similar aircraft. Substituting a F/A-18 with a single engine prop is unacceptable.

I agree. This was not really a problem in FSX.

I have just found out MSFS 2024 is on the way, in which case, I hope they can sort these issues out in the new release at least.

At least sort out helicopters with default helicopters. I cant imagine what single line of code allows a helicopter FM to render as an airliner or beech barron

M3 model matching mod is the saviour while we wait for a builtin fix to this nonsense.

Unfortunately, not for xbox.

I had not heard of this mod! Do you use it? Is it reliable?

TB2

Yes I use it and it works. Just requires an initial bit of choosing what alternatives you wznt to show and a little bit extra as new aircraft are added. Other than that it just does it’s stuff.

My only issue would be (unless I’m mistaken), I would have to go through EVERY aircraft and set them for MSFS to behave like it should already! I’m still sitting on the fence on this one but thanks for the reply!

M3 comes with a complete set of mappings for all the default sim aircraft from each edition, and for most 3rd party aircraft. They update this regularly. Whether you like all the mappings is a different matter, but it took me about 10 minutes to set it up initially and maybe the same to update it periodically.

You can then customise whatever you like and also map to 3rd party aircraft that you own. But you don’t have to go through your collection one by one.

Given that there are more and more and various aircraft offered for sale or for free, it is impossible to have all of them personally so that appropriate models are represented of other players in the game. It would be awesome if every aircraft developer would supply a representative model to add to a universal library that would be periodically updated to all MSFS users. No need to include all liveries, just a reasonably accurate representation of all aircraft one might encounter in the game.

That could have been a requirement from day one but I think it’s too late for that now. Too many horses have bolted.

Multiplayer has now become standard in Microsoft Simulator. One of the biggest annoyances in the gaming experience are always airplanes or other flying devices that cannot be perceived with their actual appearance or that roll in different levels.
Suddenly some helicopter that looks like a 747 floats through the area or races through the area at a monkey-like speed because it’s actually a MilJet behind it. It has long been standard on the large flight simulator networks to have a common cache for the appearance of aircraft and that means you only really see the livery/model that was actually selected by the player. Isn’t it finally time to fix this terrible visual crash? So my wish would be a database like Ivao or Vatsim, but this time specifically for the Microsoft Flight Simulator to really create a uniform visual experience.

Yes i agree.
If i could see the other planes i would probably wanted to get more info about them and why not maybe buy them one day!

I would fly to certain small airports to just to “watch” the other planes, and go to big airports to look for big planes etc.

You’d think a simple type line of code would have the sim render a default of such type. They’re classified by type in the MP. The game knows what it is and says such on their tag. Should just be F111=FA18 and done. Helicopters especially, where MD500=B747?
