Multiplayer: display other players actual aircraft 3D models and liveries around you

With the M3 mod (available on flightsim.to) you can do just that. Of course Microsoft should provide this but it is clear they focus on single player use.

The single player mode has probably become more or less meaningless by now since the game starts as a multiplayer game by default and let’s be honest, who plays alone? In a common database, the addon developers would also have an excellent opportunity to promote their new products by simply importing a visual flight model into the universal database of the MSFS . I hope that someone who develops 20 liveries for an aircraftmodel would also like to show them

That’s why I would like to strongly advise against using model matching mods like m3 because this is an age-old problem that Asobo has once again brought with it from FSX. These mods will only encourage the developers not to change anything. So they will simply rely on the fact that someone will take the trouble to painstakingly create mods that are only half-baked solutions.

OK, but the fact is that Microsobo will NEVER implement all the features that mod developers have added to the sim. We can complain all we want about “It doesn’t have this, or it doesn’t have that,” but really (I think) we just need to be grateful that the sim has an open enough API to allow and encourage 3rd party developers to bring their hard work into the sim for us.

Xbox guys? Sorry about that, but you get what you signed up for when you chose that platform.

Whilst I understand the sentiment here, this asks users to suffer along. If there is a way to improve things now I fully understand why most would take that route. Yes this is more important than Top Gun or Dune to the users but try getting that point across.

I understand that as well.

Priorities, right?

No no no .. With this negative attitude nothing will ever change .. The Microsoft flight simulator has always been equipped with an API so it’s nothing new .. In this case it’s about a mod that doesn’t use the API at all. Unfortunately, I’ve been going through this tragedy for 4 decades now and the same problems keep overflowing the forums. Improvement is urgently needed here, from Asobo itself. Unfortunately, they have carried over a lot of things from FSX that have been criticized for ages. This has to end now and I hope that some of this has already been implemented in MSFS 2024.

You want perfection. I get it.

Yes, it took a bit of getting used to at the beginning for the older players,I have to say that the Xbox community has fit in quite comfortably here. Anyone who still knows the times of Microsoft “Zone” will know what I mean. I really have the impression that Xbox players are trying to get to grips with a realistic flight simulation, so I can also accept things like Dune or Top Gun. It is important that the Xbox effect attracts more people to flight simulation. In this case, it is basically the young talent that this genre urgently needs. As I said, I am positively surprised by the behavior of Xbox players and welcome every single new player. Be critical and insist on your demands. In the end everyone will be well served

i think Asobo has done a fantastic job with the new flight simulator that doesn’t deserve to be done with such old, really ugly errors. It’s very annoying to see helicopters still flying around as 747s … That really doesn’t have to be the case anymore

I agree. It’s the general “We should not need 3rd party mods” thing I disagree with.

Better ATC
Better Weather
Model Matching
Better core code.

All perfectly valid demands. Patience is my friend.

Maybe I should say “we shouldn’t have to need it any more”… maybe that will make it a little more understandable

By the way, the ATC module comes entirely from FSX and it’s one of those corpses that were just dragged along.

But there is a promising add-on that I can definitely recommend. Unfortunately, I just forgot the name :upside_down_face:

.. ups .. i remember the name now .. its beyondATC … but now were getting a little bit OT

Sure I’ll be critical and have been but suggesting that users shouldn’t use workaround solutions in the meantime and complain harder to try and drive change is the bit I’m not onboard with. Without outside solutions using the sim for me would be a very frustrating experience that would likely just drive me away. The exact opposite of what’s trying to be achieved.

I am on xbox serie X.
I own msfs 2020 (i am not streaming)
Here’s my point of view.

I have a 55 inch Tv, thrustmaster tca captain pack, lying in a big confortable couch with a tablet on my side, without assistance and with a keyboard.
I personnly think i have a much better experience than most players on PC with their tiny screen.

It is a choice. I am not complaining.
It’s true that i will never be able to get the free addons but personnally i do not really care as i have hundred’s of good planes available and i will never play all of them in the end.
I fly 10 planes maybe, i don’t need to fly all of them.

No folders problem, no clean install, no addons conflicts…
It’s plug and play and the only sacrifices i made are maybe 20-30% graphics less and less planes available?
For me its a good deal.
I respect PC players because i was one of them in the past but i am a bit suprised that some pc gamer still sees xbox players like “casual gamers” when i read some comments ?
Please tell me that i am wrong.

Anyway that said i don’t necesseraly need to see each livery or each plane properly on my side but at least for example just the same “size”.
If you have a small plane i can see a small airplane like a tbm930 for exemple, just a few references like that.
I have the feeling that whatever the plane you have i will always see a A320 in my game, sometimes i see A320 doing some acrobatics maneuver lol.
English is not my mother language sorry.
Thanks.

Why has this been changed from Under investigation to not planned?

Literally the only thing that matches in the sim on console is the plane you are in. All the default in game aircraft don’t even match. bell407., nope, it’s a jumbo jet Or a bizjet. C172.. nope it’s a piper or just lights. F18.. nope a320.. really ruins things and does this change in status mean Asobo/MS has given up even trying to fix it? It was way better until SU10, since then it’s got steadily worse on console.

Have to agree here. On Xbox, model matching has actually regressed and is worse than its ever been. In the past. I could be grouped with someone, say my brother. If we were in different planes, even 3rd party as long as we owned them we could see one another properly. I am not sure which update changed it, the last time i remember trying this was maybe update SU12 but it could have been before that.

Now on Xbox there is basically no matching at all unless you are both in the same plane. It basically makes multiplayer completely pointless. This should be one of Asobos top priorities. If its limited system memory, the devs if they haven’t, need to come out and say that and concede there is no way they can get it working with the current console memory limitations. Clearly the extra bells and whistles and the intoduction of WASM has come at some cost to console players in respect of multiplayer. I appreciate that there is only so much that can be done with console limitations but its such a shame.

Comparatively, i tried on PC earlier and the model matching is exceptional. In fact, of the 15 or so planes i came across. every single one was matched correctly.

I can assure you it’s not. You have got lucky. Us PC users regularly see wrong planes, Floating bonanzas and bizjrets for heli’s, A320’s for most others, etc etc. It’s a mess here too. If they have truly now abandoned fixing this then that’s a reflection on them. I use the M3 mod to make things better but you obviously don’t have that option for Xbox.

Hi @ALANajH

You could ask this at the next Development Live Stream, scheduled for Wednesday June 5th @ 10:30 am
PDT (17:30 UTC), as per the May 23rd, 2024 - Development Update - Microsoft Flight Simulator:

" Speaking of Developer Livestreams, our next one is coming up in a week on Wednesday, June 5th (changed)! Tune in to our official Twitch channel at 10:30am PDT (1730 UTC) to hear our regular panel of Jorg, Seb, Martial, and special guests answer questions from the community and discuss the future of Microsoft Flight Simulator !"

I have submitted it as a question using their form already :+1:t3:

Well, compared to Xbox it really is. I just tried again and had 6-7 F35’s and a bunch of Typhoons flying around me all modelled perfectly including visible pilots which also do not show on Xbox on multiplayer planes.

I just loaded in on the Xbox to the same airport and even though i loaded in using the F35, all of the other F35’s around me are now a320’s. Including a bunch of invisible planes.

I know i have mentioned already, but they nerfed the absolute heck out of multiplayer on Xbox and no model matching and invisible planes are absolutely by design to save on memory costs. SU15 is considerably worse than SU14 in this regard.
