lets be serious man, the landing gear dissapearing and rotors stop moving was for years , and they saw that at comunity flights and didn t care :)) its pretty funny actually ..
Completely agree. I understand streaming models of other players or live air traffic planes is hard. It is resource intensive, and while nice, simply making a good approximation out of existing planes is already a great start.
e.g. why are tail draggers I don’t have showing up as 737s doing wheelies when the game has around 10 almost identical taildraggers to pick from? Why are helicopters mapped to airbuses?
Given I don’t have a Harrier I am OK seeing an F18 hovering. It is not great, but much better than watching an Airbus hover around.
Can we just have improved model matching as @Schermvlieger described above as an interim fix while they delay proper model matching until MSFS-next?
Please add the msfs-2020 or msfs-2024
Please allow ALL aircraft models ( purchased or NOT ) to be able to be SEEN by all players.
When group flying or otherwise with SO many different aircraft out now it’s a real drag not being able to SEE everyone flying what they are in without having to purchase the aircraft.
IMO if an aircraft is available on the Marketplace, the MODEL is made public.
Example: The group is doing MILITARY style formation flights and the host and most of the group can’t see most of the escort jets or others because the host does not own all the jets. THEN. The models are replaced with airliners, etc.
Thank you.
Its even worse now in 2024 than it was in 2020- I was on a group flight and a bunch of people were in the GF DoubleEnder. if they used default liveries, i saw them ok since i own the plane. If they had a custom livery that i dont have- they showed up as an airliner.
The what-plane-to-display decision flowchart needs to be seriously looked at
The livery breaking the model matching is not new it’s been around since the beginning. Some of the logic is so basic and could of been fixed easily ages ago but I sense yet another case of either lack of understanding on the dev side or just plain old ignoring the issue.
The system looks for a matching livery name; if none is found, it searches for a matching ICAO type; failing that, it renders the aircraft using a generic model.
In MSFS 2024, however, even this text-based matching is failing.
For the ICAO type, a match against the official ICAO registry isn’t required; it simply needs to match the string specified by the add-on developer in the configuration file.
Model matching remains broken even in the SU6 beta.
Since this ruins the multiplayer experience, I really hope it gets fixed quickly in MSFS 2024.
Fixed quickly. That’s laughable. History tells us this. Model matching has never worked in any meaningful way since 2020 launched. That’s 6 years and still nothing to address this glaring issue with multiplayer.
Since I am using AI translation, my English might not accurately convey the intended meaning.
What I mean is that model matching in MSFS2024 is worse than in FS2020, so I would like to see it fixed soon.
Yes and my point is that is only asking for it to be at the same level as 2020 which in itself is already really terrible. How about just fix them both in a proper manner.
Yes it’s certainly not. And to those who say it’s resource intensive, it doesn’t need to have the same level of detail as your own planes, or they could make it optional, or something that you could turn down. Other games either have the basic data already on the device so the bandwidth doesn’t need to be too much higher, and even if they needed to stream the models, the game already says they have high bandwidth expectations. It’s just horrible priorities in the development team. We’ve seen how they work, instead of delaying the release of 2024, they released an incredibly buggy, not ready game that still didn’t make multiplayer better from 2020!!!
Okay, that’s out of my system ![]()
