Multiplayer - how does it work?

Maybe I missed it but I can’t find a discussion about how to set up multiplayer or what it allows you to do. Thanks for you help in advance.

What it does, is allow you to fly with fellow simmers on line.
In “General Options” - “Data” ensure you have “OnLine Functionality” and “Multiplayer” turned on.
Then, when in the sim on the World Map Planner, look top right and find “Flight Conditions”.
In there, select one of the two options (your preference) in the Multiplayer section.

Once you have these options set, this linked thread will explain how to do the rest, although you may want to read it first!
There are a lot of ways to join others on line explained in this thread.

Thanks for the info but I guess I need a little more info. Does Multiplayer allow two people to fly in the same aircraft (Pilot/CoPilot), have one person flying and others just watch from some viewpoint, or is it just the ability to chat while flying?

What you are interested in is called a “shared cockpit”.
It has not been developed for MSFS as yet.

That function is in the Wishlist, item #7.

What you can do is as you mention, except that others will be flying their aircraft as well as you flying yours.
