My Flight Around The World With DA42 VI HZ-MSA || 29 Leg - 25 days

Hello everyone, :slightly_smiling_face:

  • I’d like to share with you my experience flying around the world in 25 days “23 Oct - 16 Nov 2025” with the Diamond DA42.
To start, I’ve created a Google Site that documents the entire journey. I’d love for you to take a look at it here: Around The World With DA42 VI HZ-MSA

  • Flight Map :world_map:

  • Infographic :world_map:

  • Storyline :speech_balloon:

  • I didn’t start this world tour to break records or create a dramatic story. The idea came from a YouTube series by Captain Mishal Al-Sudairi, who flew around the world in a DA42. The journey looked unique, realistic, and surprisingly uncommon — only 146 real-world pilots have completed a solo world flight.

  • I wanted to follow a similar route, fly the same aircraft, and even use the same livery he flew. But sometimes, being denied something can become a strong reason for positive change — and that’s exactly what happened to me. I didn’t know how to create a livery before. I had requested flightsim.to and reached out to many livery creators. Some replied with apologies due to the difficulty or lack of availability at the moment, others said they might do it but couldn’t promise anything, and some didn’t respond at all. What actually happened gave me the motivation to learn. By the grace of God, I learned a few things in Blender that helped me design the very first livery of my life. It’s not the best or the most complete, but it’s a work in progress: HZ-MSA Livery

  • This world tour was mainly about exploring new places, different weather, unfamiliar airports, and seeing how far I could go with simple tools and limited hardware.

  • I documented the journey with photos and tracking links for every flight via VATSIM. I had originally planned to publish pictures for all the flights, but Nigel on COWS Discord suggested that I post daily updates for each flight, so I did. Starting from the sixth flight, I began doing that: Check this

  • Tools & Setup :hammer_and_pick:

  • Simulator: Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) + Live weather

  • Aircraft: Diamond DA42-VI by COWS

  • Livery: Self-made (HZ-MSA)

  • Hardware: Lenovo Y50-70: I7 4720HQ + GTX960M 4GB + 16GB RAM + 2TB SSD + FHD Display

  • Documentation: Screenshots + route tracking

  • Planning: SimBrief, Chartfox, skyVector, metar-taf

  • Goal: Complete the world tour with consistent flights and realistic leg distances

  • Journey Timeline :round_pushpin:

:warning: Note: For the photo links to work, you need to be on the COWS Discord server.

  • Final Word :writing_hand:t2:

  • Alhmadullah done. I wanted to document the journey with videos on YouTube, but unfortunately, my laptop hardware doesn’t allow it  — maybe in the future with an upgrade. I also wished I could have done it with a group instead of alone; that would have made it even more amazing.

  • What’s next? I’m planning to repeat the journey, but not heading east — instead going north or south. I know it’s a bit crazy, especially crossing Antarctica, but I think it would be very exciting. :star_struck: I haven’t planned it yet.

  • I want to thank: Captain Mishaal Al-Sudairy for the inspiration, as well as for giving his permission to create and share his livery and for his warm welcome; COWS for this amazing aircraft; VATSIM for ATC services; Henkerhaus for the Beige interior; TimHH for seat logos; Norwegian Flight Sim, Nigel, Veyronox, and Tommy for their support and for following the journey with me on Discord; and Captain Ammar for accompanying me on my final flight from Athens to Sphinx.

Thank You Everyone

Goofy? That’s just the “extra aerodynamic personality” :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Like 5 people said they would take my baby around the world. I think you are the only one to actually complete it.

That honestly means a lot coming from you. Your “baby” handled the entire journey beautifully. I’m really proud to have completed the world trip with the DA42, and I’m glad I could be the only one of who actually made it happen. Thank you!

I bought this plane a while ago, but haven’t spent much time in it.

Now I’m inspired.

I’m very happy to hear that. This aircraft is excellent and beautifully simulated, and the failures system is impressive. The fact that it saves the last state of the aircraft and adjusts failures based on usage is also an outstanding feature.

The main reason I bought it was that I like the DA-40 series, but didn’t like the DA-62 because of the terrible cockpit visibility due to the giant A-pillars. The DA-42 design is so much better for sightseeing, wouldn’t you agree?

What an awesome post! I enjoyed it even more since the COWS DA42 is my favorite plane in the whole sim. Beautiful aircraft, and beautifully implemented!

Absolutely, I completely agree. The DA42 offers fantastic visibility, and that makes a huge difference especially on long journeys or when sightseeing. The cockpit layout feels open, clean, and unobstructed compared to the DA62. It’s one of the reasons I enjoyed flying it so much throughout the entire trip.
