My Saitek FFB yoke. a WIP

Thanks, I was able to finally discover how you guys made it. Great solution, congrats! I guess this solution is even doable as an upgrade to my current build.

Now I only need a solution for the 22 cables from the Yoke to the Saitek PCB. Right now the angle is just enough to leave them where they are originally. With 180° roll I need another solution…

Btw. I just flew the first couple minutes with my new (self built) motion rig and the FFB-Yoke combined… What a blast!

I mounted the PCB in a 3D printed cadet yoke (Thingiverse) and have just a USB cable plugging into the panel. My yoke is removable since I use 3 different panels. Show some pictures and some details on the DIY motion platform.

I finally got this mod all assembled but seem to have a issue in XPforce. Im using the IR sensor so with the motors active, the pitch force doesnt want to center, it either wants to slam forward or backwords while in lfight. Could it be a wiring issue or is XPforce not working with the lastest MSFS2020 updates? Also the motors work but I doesn’t seem like any aerodynamic force feel like their working?

@TheDeagle This is a wiring issue, I encountered the same when I wired it according to the pictures from this thread.
Here you can see the correct wiring of the both pots (in my case).

Yes, i wired per the pics on this thread. When I get home from work, I’ll wire it up like you have it. If all is good, I’ll post some pics as I kind of did a mode of V2 and the the 180 degree mod I did go with a 10K 200mm linear pot for the pitch from P3 America. CFL Series | Linear Motion Potentiometer

Then you might need to wire the pot differently. Just test if the calibration of the joystick is not “reversed” before powering it on.

Ok I swapped the blue and yellow wire and all is working great now. Thank you very much. Here is my WIP. Just need to wire in the yoke trim and buttons and mount to my 172 sim and all ready to go.

That’s sweet looking.

Parts are printing now, and the Sidewinder is in the mail! Any update on how it holds up on the long run?

I have over 30 hours on my modified one. Love it.

2 questions

  1. What are the Thrust ball Bearings for? I can’t seem to find them in the 3d file.
  2. Did I order the wrong joystick because my roll bracket looks completely different?
  1. Which bearings exactly do you mean?
  2. Yes, unfortunately you bought the SideWinder ForceFeedback Pro instead of the SideWinder ForceFeedback 2.

@RPthreenine Thanks, I just ordered a FFB 2, and the bearing (seen in gold) seem to sandwich the roll bracket that’s supposed to be CNC’d out of aluminum, but where are the two axial rods that the gears rotate around come from. are they components’ of the FFB2?

@JCSLOVE any more progress done on this?

@Deusximperium The roll bracket comes with the axial rods attached and is taken from the FFB2, so there’s no need to worry! :grinning:

Looks like you got your answer already.
BTW. The red thing in your pic that looks like one of the brackets. It’s just a cutting guide. It isn’t used in the unit.
If you use F360 you can open the drawing file on Thingiverse.

Does anyone know how to directly contact XPforce? I purchased a license and never got it. Sent in 2 separate tickets no response. Its been over 2 months

Great to hear thatI’m just trying to get in touch with him regarding fs2024 compatibility which won’t happen as things stand.
I’m preparing to dump another 1.2k into a yoke which runs on software from a reliable developer …:tired_face::tired_face:
