Also note this point.-
EGPH - Ramp 210
LFBO - Ramp 94 (assigned by ground ATC)
Landed Runway 14R at LFBO.
Second person with 787. Congrats
Yeah I’m not forking out €85 for the deluxe upgrade to get the Dreamliner to try this.
Flew this route in the CJ4 and nothing popped.
Will try again in the A320 and see what happens.
Remember to turn off the other setting I describe here-
So you changed those settings and saved them. Shows custom now, but sure it wouldn’t surprise me at all if this works
Kind of confused now, changed those settings and checklist and the ATC box is gone. How do you talk to ATC with that window now gone?
If you’ve got the ATC window set to be closed, do you have the ATC replies mapped to keys?
I have replies 1-4 mapped to the RB+D-pad up/down/left/right and I don’t think there are any required ATC responses that would need to be on replies 5-0.
Of course, you’d need to remember what number response some of them are from memory without seeing the ATC window itself, no?
I’ve got most of them memorized, but wanted your input on it. How are you utilizing the responses without seeing the ATC window?
Have a feeling this mapping of responses is not available on the Series X
It is, I’m using a Series S until I can bloody find a Series X to buy!
Let me clarify, they are definitely able to be assigned.
Ah, forgot you can hook a keyboard up to it. I’ve been flying with the controller.
Can you even hear ATC now with the voices option off? This doesn’t seem right at all 🤷
I’m not using a keyboard.
I’ve got them mapped to the D-pad, as stated.
Of course, a keyboard would def work!
I haven’t tried his tips yet. I was wondering the same thing about the ATC voices switch. I think he said they worked anyhow with it off.
Im still in bed in the dark so I can’t review the settings at the moment, but I thought there used to be a setting there that turned off the printed responses. Did that get changed to read “ATC voices”?
Having the printed words turned off in the transcript would def make it harder, because you’d have to remember what the ATC said rather than reviewing the printed log of it.
Will try again in the A320 and see what happens.
Please let us know how it turns out
Ah sorry my bad, that’s neat that we can use the dpad.
I had a flight open and tried those settings but didn’t fly. I turned ATC back on and requested clearance and I didn’t hear a word back. So for me atleast with voices off, I won’t hear a thing.
Turning off voices seems, to me, to be the antithesis of “True to Life”.
As a side note, following the mythology of how to get this achievement is a fascinating example of how we humans just spread all sorts of conflicting information and sow confusion with our communication of ideas, no?
I’m further wondering here, if you’ve toggled off the display of the Checklist, are you just blowing off the completion of the checklist?
Isn’t completing a checklist prior to flight “True-to-Life”?
This has me pondering if the Checklist is meant to be a modeling of the pre-flight/in-flight checklist of real life or if it’s just supposed to be a helper checklist for the uninitiated about how to play the game!
Geez.
You can open the ATC window it doesn’t seem to count as an assist. I do use KB a lot too, ‘1’, ‘2’ etc. i just tyurned it off as a default pop open at startup.
Again you can turn it on via the top bar. It doesn’t count as an assist perhaps it does if you use the small eyeball icons though, so best to manually scroll around cockpit views just in case. I use the checklist for ticking off tasks manually, again this isn’t an assist.
Thanks for the replies.
Great, this is how I’ve used the ATC and Checklist, as well.
What about the ATC Voices setting? @BraveStoner said toggling them off completely eliminated them for him. You said it made no difference?
