NavData & PMDG

With the release of the latest Navdata, are we any closer to implementing this into the PMDG 737?

If you mean ability to update navdata via the tablet in the 737, Possibly September, with an asterix, from this post.

https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/general-discussion-news-and-announcements/323973-08aug24-pmdg-777-300er-to-marketplace-pmdg-777f-nearing-beta-testing-and-a-few-other-little-items

If you just mean the current AIRAC cycle, I’m not sure (as I’m on Xbox)

The navdatabase has always been updatable in the PC version but I assume you mean in the Xbox and Cloud versions of the simulator. Making them updatable from within the simulator is planned. It already is implemented in the B777.

“… Implemented in the B777” - but has not been able to update to the current AIRAC, due to a bug. Has the bug been identified? Any prediction on when it might be fixed? Thanks.

Are you using the navigraph navdata or do you talk about the MSFS included navdata?

PMDG does not use the native MSFS navdata (supplied by NavBlue, Airbus). PMDG planes come with custom navdata from Navigraph (from Jeppesen, Boeing). They include a single unlocked AIRAC cycle as a courtesy, and you need a separate Navigraph subscription to update the navdata.

I know, thats why i asked for more specific information about your bug.

The bug they are referring to is the one preventing the newly-implemented method of updating navdata through the Tablet from working correctly. The process always hangs at about 75% through the update. This method was created specifically with XBox users in mind who can’t use the Navigraph Hub to update. But nearly as soon as it was released by PMDG, something on the Asobo/MS side seems to have broken it.

The cause of this issue was found and solved. As always, the folks at Navigraph were super helpful. We’ll have a micro update out as soon as possible (we have some folks out of office though).

Any update on this?

The PC version we are testing right now works again, a new build for Xbox/Cloud will be submitted in the next few days.

great news - thank you to the PMDG team

Not sure if I have missed something, or there is a deliberate effort to simply ‘gloss-over’ the Xbox community in answering some difficult questions posed in relation to this.
Once again it seems that Xbox users are simply an after thought.
Does anyone know what is happening with this update, and on a side note why releases from the Marketplace take so long to materialise; its not like MS are testing anything!

It is sounding like the update should be ready next week or the week after. We just need to sit tight and let the update move through the Marketplace ingestion process.

You will update the nav data via the EFB, which means Xbox users will finally have an option to do so.

What difficult questions?

We released the update a few hours ago and delivered it to Microsoft at the same time. Now, after that, it is out of our hands; we have no control over how much time Microsoft needs. If you know of any faster way to get updates done for Marketplace customers, please let us know.

This question about the delays specifically pertaining to Xbox, has been directly asked in the PMDG forums, and simply ignored. It was directed at two specific PMDG tech members.

Can you send me the links to those messages? Of course, tech members are not involved with distribution so that might be why it was missed.

Again, there are NO delays in Xbox releases. We want to make sure that releases are stable, and as we can do multiple releases a day on our system, we prefer to use that system. But the moment the code is stable, it is released to our users and Microsoft on the same day. After that, we have no influence on the actual release. The marketplace used to have delays up to 10 weeks; these days, it is often just a few days.

I do not believe it fair to name and shame people on public forums, and while the questions relate to the delays, the pertinent question should be why are the Xbox users not validated to the same degree. Simply not answering the question, is just one example, and unfortunately PMDG do not have the Monopoly on this trait.

I still have no idea what you mean by that and why you will not tell me where we messed up in a reply to you. We just send a new version to Microsoft that makes updating the navdata possible in Xbox and solves three small Xbox specific issues. What more do you expect?
