Navigraph survey results released. MSFS gained market share (77% this year, vs 70.8% in the last Navigraph survey)

The Navigraph FlightSim Community Survey 2024: The Results Are In!

77% for both MSFS 2020 + MSFS 2024. That’s an increase from 70.8% from the last Navigraph survey. After the poor release of MSFS 2024, that’s actually a pretty good outcome for MSFS as a whole, for it to gain market share in this Navigraph survey.

Also of interest is that the best flight simulation product as voted by the Navigraph survey takers, was all MSFS related, except for the WingWing Hardware:

6 months after launch msfs2024 has less than half the users of msfs2020, something must change or I fear the msfs saga will receive severe blows

A lot of the users follow add-ons though. It was like that in MSFS 2020 too. When PMDG 737, Just Flight BAe 146, Fenix A320, and Leonardo Maddog were released in the spring of 2022, there was a huge influx of users to MSFS 2020.

Right now, there are still some top add-ons that haven’t been officially ported to MSFS 2024. The PMDG add-ons have not been officially ported over to MSFS 2024 yet (although some are in beta testing now for MSFS 2024). And iFly 737 Max has also not been ported over to MSFS 2024.

We will get a better picture of how MSFS 2024 is doing once those add-ons are ported over to MSFS 2024.

The survey was in early March, so this data is more like 4 months after launch, but your overall point is still valid.

The next Navigraph survey will really tell the story of 2024’s success or failure. If they have major bugs ironed out, Marketplace in order, fully supported 3rd party add-ons, and are regularly hitting sim updates and bug fixes, it will show.

My big fear is that some of the damage done so far could be permanent. I’m very much undecided if I’m going to continue past 2020. I know I would like to, but my interest wanes a tiny bit more every day. If the launch was better and the sim was in a good place, I would have already bought 2024. (Well, I did, but quickly refunded.)

Yep! Also those who do the Navigraph survey are more “hardcore simmers”, casual players are more keen to change quicker as they don’t rely on specific planes as much, so in reality that number is definitely higher.

If you download the full report, you can uncover some more interesting data about how well people feel MSFS 2024 met expectations. For a many of the core aspects surveyed, the dominant response was that MSFS 2024 was below or far below expectations
