Navigraph vs Free?

I assume that only requires being on the same network? Thanks for the info.

The moving map on the taxi chart in particular is VERY useful when on VATSIM.

There’s a lot of things that Navigraph does very well, and if you are simming more than say 2-3 hours a week it’s totally worth it.

If you only ever fly once in a long while..then perhaps stick to the free tools

Nope, it sends the info to Navigraph’s servers. So you can start a flight, and then use any internet connected device (Ipad, laptop) to track the flight, even if you aren’t on the same network.

Guys, i’m an enthusiastic and the Navigraph in my local coin it’s about six times the real price. Do you think that worth it?

What do you mean? The pricing is the same for the whole world AFAIK - 75 euro/year or ~9 euro/month.

I’m trying to say that’s the Euro worth more than my local coin, so it’s too expensive for me and other peoples from my country. For now, i’m flying using Chartfox, but it always gets laggy.

Even better, thanks.

Ah I understand now.

You can try the one month subscription and see if it’s worth it for you in your currency, relative to other things you can spend that money on in your country.

Hard to say more without knowing your specific situation. It’s certainly a good, high-quality product, but I cannot speak to purchasing power parity questions!

I’m flying for fun, it’s so much that I didn’t even buy the game itself, I’m using Game Pass. But even for fun I’m learning a lot and enjoying using the charts.

Sounds like me when I got started.

If you keep on flying, and enjoying it and learning more, at some point you will know that you want to buy Navigraph (or anything else). No need to buy till that point.

Personally I flew for years without spending money on expensive addons (and had a ton of fun). You don’t need it to have fun.

I think I got to that point LOL. I will give a try in next month.

The cheapest solution is to get the Navigraph Data Only subscription; there are free utilities named throughout this thread that can help supplement with flight planning, approach plates viewing/overlay, etc. Really - you pay four months worth of the one month pass - you get 12 months of data. That’s what it’s worth on a monthly cost versus annual cost.

You don’t happen to know free sources for current European Charts? Because I am pretty sure they are not available.

EDIT:

Forgot to mention that I am looking for IFR charts.

https://chartfox.org/ Most of Europe is covered.

Thanks. I’ll have a look. Cheers!

EDIT:

Since you need VATSIM to log-in - are those abbreviated charts for VATSIM use or are they comprehensive like on Navigraph. Because I’d love to have all the info such as AIO, AFC, HIRO and LVP, preferential RWYs and such, that is not visible my simply looking at approach plates.

I’ve got European VFR charts in LNM. There’s a link to download them on their forum section on avsim. I think it was somewhere in this thread:

New maps for LNM - Little Navmap | Little Navconnect | Little Logbook Support Forum - The AVSIM Community

Look for OpenFlightMaps, that covers Europe.

I think it was here that I found it.

Adding VFR waypoints - Little Navmap | Little Navconnect | Little Logbook Support Forum - The AVSIM Community

Thank you, Mort! How about IFR though?

I’ve not really been looking for those myself. Maybe ask around in one of those topics on AVSim. I’m sure if they’re available someone will be able to point you in the correct direction.

I have a full subscription and agree that it’s a solid product. I’ll probably downgrade my full subscription for a data only one because I don’t fly IFR enough and I use Little Navmap for planning. I will miss having plates to hand but don’t use them enough to justify paying that much.

If I flew IFR and airlines a lot, I think it would be an essential part of my setup. Without a doubt.

If they included VFR charts with the subscription, that would be a total game changer for me. Might be coming in the future.

I had a look at it and it’s actually great for a free service.

The coverage is a little spotty (no AD information for places like KJFK for example) but if someone can’t or won’t afford a Navigraph subscription one can get by with Google, the FAA charts and Chartfox.
