Need Keymap for Heading Bug Sync to Compass Lubber Line

 Thank you using the Bug section, using templates provided will greatly help the team reproducing the issue and ease the process of fixing it.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Brief description of the issue:

There is no keymap for synchronizing heading bug to current compass heading (lubber line). This is real-life behavior. Players who have a hardware control (like a rotary knob) assigned to INCREASE HDG BUG and DECREASE HEADING BUG can also likely press IN the knob and expect to have HEADING BUG set to CURRENT HEADING that the plane is flying. But no such Key Map exists. This behavior can be SOMEWHAT EMULATED by enabling SET AUTOPILOT HEADING BUG, but this control exists independent of the AUTOPILOT in real life. Thanks.

Note: there is a SET HEADING BUG COMMAND - but it automatically sets the HEADING to 0 Degrees North, not current heading.

This is also logged in several other threads.

Zendesk: 84599
Zendesk: 151331 “SET HEADING BUG” key binding always syncs to 0/360° heading rather than current heading

Would really like to be able to get this fixed.

Sorry to bring up this old thread, but I can’t seem to find a solution to this same issue. Anyone have any ideas? Or, has this been resolved and I just can’t find it?

Not resolved. I used Mobiflight to send a script to the HDG knob on my GA panel.

Ok, thanks for the info!

This bug is till present, 3 years after it has been reported. It’s impossible to map joystick buttons to anything related to the autopilot heading bug and it’s very annoying.

I also find this extremely irritating. The only thing I can find does not sync but points it N. What is the point! This bug has been around long enough that it is apparent they are not interested in fixing it and it would be a simple fix.

By the way, the same problem exist for VOR 1 and 2.

Has anyone heard of anything happening with this lately or how I could input this diectly to Micrsoft.

Guess what!!! Surprise surprise
 Still a problem on MSFS-2024.
This is actually pretty unbeleivable.
I have an external interface box and it has a rotary encoder which works OK, but it also has a button when you push it. Just like a real one!
Clearly this issue doesn’t bubble to the top of the list, and based on the feedback from customers re MSFS-2024, I think we’ll be waiting a while.

This is no longer a bug. 2024 does have a heading sync keybind. It was one of the first things I looked for in 2024 and it works. I can’t remember the full name of the keybind, since I am currently one of the peeps locked out of the game at 58%.

I remember it starts with “PFD” and “MFD” - it doesn’t have the word “sync” in the name. I think they used the term “button press” instead. I bound those two to a keybind and after 4 years of waiting, 2024 delivered.

I’ve given up hope that this will be implemented in 2020.

It doesn’t sync with the Lubber Line I believe.

I’m not a real pilot, so I assumed the “lubber line” is the centerline of an aircraft pointed towards it’s current heading. I’m a casual simmer, so I was only familiar with the term “heading sync”. I wasn’t aware that pilots use a lubber line for instrument navigation.

In any case, 2024 does have a keybind to sync the heading bug to one’s current heading - which is what I thought this thread was talking about.

NOTE: This is the reason why it’s worth relearning the default 2024 keymap by sticking with the 2024 Translational keymap in the control setup menu. If you change it to the 2020 Translational keymap, you will deny yourself from 3rd party addons in the future that will take advantage of the new 2024 features/keybindings. You will also think that 2024 still has carryover “bugs” in limited contol keybinds.

You can mouse click it - hover over the HDG knob and double click both mouse buttons (someone else said hold LMB then press RMB). It’s not the same behavior we had in 2024, but the functionality exists. I don’t know the in-sim binding because I use SPAD with a button box, but that works, too.

I use that method to click the STD baro button in the Boeings. Since I have a hardware TQS heading physical button with press, I use the heading bug keybind so I can keep my eyes outside the cockpit as much as possible.

You can find the command to set the heading bug to the aircraft direction in the ‘Uncatgorized’ section of the controls setting. It is one of the controls for ‘specific’ aircraft. You can set it to aircraft direction or to the G1000. It may work on other avionics as well but I generally fly G1000.

Can you find how to bind it in 2024?

Set AP Current HDG

Thanks, mate! That bind works!
