This is definitely not ready for release. It barely flies. The sounds are muted to nothing. Buyer beware.
Thanks for the heads up.
Pity, I like prop airliners
Bummer. I held off because Nemeth has pretty mixed reviews. Was hoping it would be good as a Soviet-era propliner’s going to be a pretty unique experience.
Yeah I’ll be reaching out to the Nemeth brothers on this. It’s a mess.
It sounds like a single engine piston, and the flight dynamics are wonky with flaps in. I was able to get it airborne with a magic trim setting where I was continuing to trim back until it basically leaped off the ground. The float with flaps is to the point where I was rising in the air with the nose down at a 60 degree angle at one point, with a prior attempt leading to a sudden wing over stall with no audio or visual warning.
The model looks nice but I can’t get past the sounds, and need to read up more on the flight dynamics. It seems to fly fine in climb, cruise, and descent until flaps come in.
Update: I wrote a quick email to them about sounds, flight dynamics, lack of stall warning, and also asked about a free option via flight sim.to or something for a Cyrillic cockpit. I think they have a long way to go with this, but at absolutely minimum addressing sounds as well as flight dynamics just in the regime where flaps are needed would go a long way. Will advise if they get back to me. The Il-18 isn’t something I have any practical background on due to lack of them for prior sims, and I usually test more before sending an email, but these issues are very apparent.
Wow, what a let down I was about to buy it! Think I will wait on this one.
Did you get any reply from them?
Regards
Not yet but it hasn’t even been 24 hours. If they respond I’ll advise.
Hopefully they spend time on it cause it looks promising
Yes I hope so too, this would be unique to the sim, a bit like the NAMC 11, the Japanese plane. I love these unique ones.
what’s the general consensus on modelling so far? im looking to grab it but im worried about the flight and engine modelling
From a systems perspective it’s actually fairly in-depth, but it doesn’t have failure modeling and I suspect not much in the way of super realistic engine performance. It looks great, lots of stuff to flip and switch that actually works, but the sounds and flight dynamics are not there.
As of roughly 24 hours since I sent a support email, and no response.
the floating with flaps down sounds scary lol i really hope they tone that down soon, did you find more issues beyond that?
It’s odd, when I looked at it in MP yesterday it didn’t have a description which added to the low-quality feeling. I wonder if they updated it.
I really want this to be good, this is right up my alley. Really hope this is only the beginning with lots of improvements forthcoming.
I don’t know, I’ll only buy once they show an interest in fixing the issues mentioned.
I really hope they do because it will be a wonderful addition to the sim.
on approach, the flaps seem normal until you go full flaps, then you’ll be looking at the ground ( while still holding glide path )
you can’t take off without flaps, either… even with 15 flaps and no pax/cargo, it took 2.5km to get off the ground… at sea level. I don’t know much about the perf w the real plane, but it seems very underpowered. ( the internet says 3000-4000’ takeoff roll… took me 8000’, empty )
the exterior model is decent - not amazing, but not bad. it doesn’t have that “someone fitted the aluminum with a hammer” look, like you see on soviet planes from this era. The cockpit looks pretty nice, esp in VR, clearly most of the effort went here. The rear cabin is phoned in… very low poly, no detail around the doors or galley. the tray tables clip through the back of the passenger seats.
livery quality is ok. no vintage Aeroflot provided - but hopefully repainters will sort it out with better quality work. as mentioned above, an option for cyrillic labels in the cockpit would have been nice.
engine sounds are terrible - misses all the character of the IL-18, which should absolutely scream. ( the volume is also mixed super low - it was peaking at 25-30% of full volume )
it would have been nice to have some really nasty exhaust smoke from the engines as well
Super sad to hear. Hopefully they bring it up to scratch.
Sounds like the PMDG DC6 is still the only propliner ever released for the MSFS2020/2024 space thats worth buying!
Let me guess, it’s on the marketplace then we cannot acces/edit the aircraft.cfg to rectify the flight model, right ?
Sounds like a flock of birds chirping!
