Never getting wet aprons

Does anyone managed to get wet aprons in live weather ? Sitting here on the runway with constant rain no sign of water on the runway or aprons.

I certainly did before, but I never got around to testing the new dynamics regarding water/ice on the ground, which I believe was listed as part of 1.9.3.0.

I will try, and take another look at this after work.

Thanks. You can a try going to Goa (VOGO) some monsoon storm, lots of rain. Let me know if you see wet aprons.

Now that you mention it, I’ve seen promo shots etc with large puddles of water on the ground. Have never seen any puddles myself - in live weather rain conditions. I have all my settings on ultra except trees and grass, so that shouldn’t be the reason. Would be interested to follow this thread.

The puddles were definitely there, as were splashes from raindrops. But it appeared to have zero effect on ground handling. It looked good though.

So what setting you got that we dont ?

No I’m in jfk right now and its raining but no moist on the ground

As I saw this was a previous patch. If you want to see what you may have been missing, have a look at this:

Do you mean like these?

I got it with live weather even many minutes after the rain stopped.

I cant see it. Reflections on ultra

The wet ground also had reflective qualities, which was an unexpected level of detail. I’m looking forward to revisiting this now.

OK so i do get it if i put rain preset but not in live weather. Maybe only heavy heavy rain trigger it ?
Plus if i go from Rain preset to live weather (which was also rainy) it all disappear in less than a minute.

Yep. It’s very beautifully done in the rain preset.

That’s easy to test. Start with the rainy preset, or indeed any preset, then adjust the precipitation slider until you start to see water build up.

That video almost made me spit my coffee when the YouTuber called the movement of the drops on the side windows “highly unrealistic” with a super-snobby tone completely disregarding the giant propeller blowing air exactly in that direction. :joy:

That guy, Osama is his name, actually annoys the heck out of me. I’ve seen his videos when I used to fly xp11

Well TBH its better than anything else we had so far, but i do think they are a bit overdone. What i mean is they are super big, they don’t leave any trail/drag marks after them. You would expect that if u sitting on the ground with engine off they will slide down the windshield living trail while some will stay at the same place. But as i said its better then what we had so far. Maybe they’ll improve in the future.

The point is that the engine isn’t off. I can’t say if the movement is exactly right but it’s most certainly not “highly unrealistic.”

Sounded like the typical know-it-all teletubbier finding something to nitpick about to make himself sound smart and made me laugh out loud.

Well if there is one thing we saw in this sim unlike any other sim is a lot of social media coverage and those people so-called “Youtubers” making videos of flight simulator.
