Hello guys, this week we had the reajustment of exchange rate of the dollar to brazilian real (BRL) on the Marketplace products, but the new one is a little bit abusive.
Today the dollar exchange rate is 5,47 BRL, the new one on the marketplace is 6,60 BRL. This is a HUGE difference, see some examples:
PMDG 777 is 77 dollars, using the official exchange rate we pay 421 BRL, using the new marketplace rate we pay almost 500 BRL.
SBJH airport from GearDown is 10 dollars, using the official exchange rate we pay 55 BRL, using the marketplace rate we pay 66 BRL.
Can you please review this new rate for us brazilians? This is very abusive and makes no sense.

The new prices on the marketplace in Brazil are absurd. An aircraft simply costs 50% of the current minimum wage in the country. I hope this increase has a catastrophic effect on purchases on the marketplace by the Brazilian community.

Now, considering the exchange rate and taxes, it is cheaper to buy directly from the Addon developer’s store than to buy from the marketplace at this moment. However, Xbox users are stuck with the system and do not have the option to buy directly from the Addon developer. Absurd.

The new updated prices are completely out of touch with the reality of our country. This is bad because it limits accessibility to Marketplace products. Even worse for those on XBOX where EVERYTHING IS PAID. Microsoft’s new pricing policy penalizes consumers in Brazil. It’s unfair because, on XBOX, we have no option but to BUY to have fun.

Agreed! Unreal prices out there on the marketplace. They don’t match with reality in Brazil at all! I am a big consumer and supporter of those products as a content creator and now I don’t see any reason to keep buying. I will wait fot lower prices.

Totally unfair this abusive readjustment. Paulo Ricardo’s scenarios that cost between 50 and 60 reais (BRL) are now above 100 reais BRL. And there are still the pmdg 777 for example it is costing almost 500 BRL totally unfeasible for the Brazilian public!

This is one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever seen. If you don’t want to apply regional pricing anymore, that’s fine. But charging more than the current exchange rate from dollar to real is abusive.
With this move, you have basically killed the marketplace for PC users, since 90% of the add-ons there are also available in other stores and it will be cheaper to buy add-ons there than on the marketplace, since they apply the current dollar exchange rate, which is lower than the exchange rate you use. And for people on Xbox, there will be a drastic decrease in sales on the marketplace, since the add-ons are no longer affordable for Brazilians.
With this change, we Brazilians are being treated as if we were a rich first world country like Switzerland, where the minimum wage varies between $4,300 and $5,400 per month. Here in Brazil it’s $258. There is no logical explanation for us being treated like the Swiss and having add-ons more expensive than the exchange rate.
Microsoft will suffer losses, as the increase in prices won’t compensate the sharp drop in sales on the Marketplace.

Just keep in mind that we, as developers, have no control over this.

I’m pretty sure they used you guys as an example, the 777 was R$ 270 and now almost doubled the price… It’s insane what MS did…

What if you reduced the profit margin? Of course, it’s possible to lower the price, but it seems that the developers and MS itself aren’t interested in doing so. You live in Europe and the US. You seem to be completely unaware of the reality here. How is it possible for an aircraft in the MP to cost MORE than the simulator itself? Does that make sense to you?

500BRL = ÂŁ69 which is cheaper than what I paid for the 777 in the UK or am I missing something?

Yes, we know that this new quote is Microsoft’s internal policies.

It is not possible to reduce the price of the product to a single region, as this would reduce prices in other regions of the world, affecting the developer’s sales. In my opinion, it is Microsoft’s responsibility to take action regarding the adjustment of the dollar exchange rate in the marketplace.

You’re missing the economical situation, in Brazil the minimum wage is €202, and the medium wage of all the population is €417.
Is fair the price of the addons in Brazil? UK the medium wage is €2000, see the difference?

Ah ok so your argument is with the Brazilian government, not with Microsoft, PMDG or Mathijs

Like i said, i used the PMDG product as a example.
My argument is directly to Microsoft, they put an abusive exchange rate of the dollar to BRL, above the commercial conversion, this is not fair and illegal.
Commercial exchange rate from dollar to BRL today: 1 dollar = 5,47 BRL
Microsoft now is using 1 dollar to 6,60 BRL.
This topic is to alert Microsoft about this abusive exchange rate, not to complain about the original price of the addons in dollar.

Prices have practically increased by 50% in the Brazilian marketplace. It’s impossible to buy— a PMDG 777 is costing one-third of the minimum wage in Brazil. Microsoft should adopt the same pricing policy it uses for Game Pass, based on the socioeconomic conditions of each country, instead of charging in Brazil (a third-world country) the same prices as in first-world countries (the US and Europe).

But 500 BRL it is 35% of the minimum salary here, it very very expensive for us
